Jan 2014 General Report
In pursuit of His Steps:
We have started a new year in hopes to keep up after His footsteps. Being aware of the huge
challenge ahead I appeal to His love and guidance to face it,
When it comes to teaching someone any type of skill, the teacher has to get the students’
interest if it is aimed that the student really learns it, however when we pursuit to share His footsteps
along the walk with the others who may have lost faith, who may have given up on His loving care and
on top that have no willingness to try at all, definitely our efforts needs to reach sacrifice.
However this is the normal process to give abundant fruit, a seed must die to bear abundant
fruit as He taught us on the Holy Cross.
Therefore no effort will be in vain if His love and guidance is requested. Despite of all the
obstacles, He is leading the way and we should only hang on to His hands tightly.
So below I would like to share with you some of the efforts accomplished during this past month
relying on God’s perfect plan. I beg your prayers in order that His love amends the mistakes I had in each
of the efforts made and His grace allows me to recognize them with humility and His wisdom enlighten
me to correct my acts.
Here are the stories that inspired our efforts in January:
Visitors:
We had the pleasure and the great experience to meet Ben Anderson, a Jesuit from Minnesota
who came to stay at the convent for a little over a month to study Spanish and learn from our
community. Just like a servant of His, Ben shared with the convent, with the people of the community
and with many others here in San Andres a very humble, simple and very kind friendship that has
enriched our lives and our community. His stay will always last in our memories.
Sharing with the Institutions:
We were able to accomplish a visit with the Rockhurst 2014 friends to Los Gozosos Orphanage &
to NPH Boarding School.
The time we spent at los Gozosos allowed us to get closer to the most living presence of God
among us: children with special needs and playing with them is like playing with God.
Our tour around the NPH Boarding school has given us an opportunity to learn more about their
mission to educate those with troublesome lives for a better future.
We have been able to accompany the convent in their needs in gratitude all their love, care and
support thru: Donation of funds, Vegetable garden, Maintenance in general for the facility.

We had the opportunity to meet with SHARE Foundation, the school authorities from San
Andres, the Authorities from the villages of San Andres and Parents from the communities. Our goal was
to communicate our proposals for this year and inform them that SHARE Foundation and SHARING THE
CHANGE program will be joining efforts to better serve them and provide them a more integral
accompaniment along the projects we reach an agreement to accomplish.
From the meeting we were able to obtain a list of requests that we have are using as a guide to
fulfill the visit to the schools and accomplish the first stage of our activity calendar for this year. I would
like to share with you the mentioned list:

Sharing with the Schools:
The team work we can accomplish with SHARE foundation and the City Hall of the town will allow the
Program to be able to serve at least 12 schools during 2014 thru the 2 projects proposed for this area of
need and they are:
Clean Little School, Pretty little school, little school of the Change (school facility improvement
for 10 schools)
Little seeds of the Change (Education in Values in 2 schools)

Sharing with the Children:
In the community of San Francisco, most of the parents have a lot of difficulties to raise their kids in a
way that they provide them skills for them to perform better when grown.
Also they get a hard time teaching them about values while trying to meet their material needs. It has
been an issue while achieving some of the projects to improve their lives.
Therefore this year 2014, we are proposing to develop the project Education in Values named Little
seeds of the Change for the children from this community.
We aim to provoke a leadership among the children based on the values to improve their community
living conditions.
Sharing with the Youth:
We had the opportunity to play a soccer game with a local team in a Short tournament they were
organizing to collect funds for their church. Our score wasn’t the winner however we won a great
experience sharing with the Youth from Rockhurst 2014 and the locals.
The education in the junior high schools from San Andres does not encourage the learning and practice
of the Values we promote in the Program; however it is really important to walk with these students
along this stage of their growth so they may become great people.
So in 2014, the project Education in Values is proposed to be developed in the junior high school 25 de
Junio with a different name “Run for the Change” based on adjustments to match the PE contents which
is addressed to a different type of population.
Sharing with the families:
Deep gratitude to the Mission Trip from Rockhurst 2014 for making possible to help the following
families thru their time, their commitment, their efforts and support to accomplish the projects
proposed for them.
Care Projects:
We continue to work on the Care Projects such as the Food service, Emergency Assistance, Stoves and
we were able to help 10 families:

Productive projects:
Rockhurst allowed us the opportunity to start an ambitious vegetable project with 10 families in the
community of San Francisco in hopes of a sustainable benefit for the families thru the process of the
Capital seed. This project was originally the Family Garden project that proposed to give the families
fresh and healthy food plus an expertise on new types of vegetables. However the process to assure a
more substantial benefit was too complicated due to the time consuming tasks in each family.
Therefore new options were discussed with new beneficiaries and the Community of San Francisco was
the first to dare to become involve on this adventure that aims to produce 4 crops of String beans during
this year and we have committed to them to provide them the full support and accompaniment for the
first crop so they can continue with the remaining crops thru self‐management leaning on our partial
accompaniment.
Here is the list of the families benefited thru this project:

families who embraced the opportunity to not only get the benefits of the eggs but attempt to grow
thru the sales they may make.
We were able to complete 3 hen houses for the following groups:
