x _____ Advising Objectives: ● Develop an effective, collaborative advising relationship with you ● Guide you to identify and explore academic interests and capabilities ● Help you assess progress towards your degree, including academic record and campus policies ● Provide you with support for a successful transition to the university ● Advise you with appreciation for and awareness of individual differences ● Help you identify and integrate resources offered by the university ● Facilitate retention and timely graduation ● Encourage a rewarding educational experience at UCSC

Student ● Schedule appointments with advisers as needed ● Become knowledgeable about deadlines, college programs, degree requirements, policies and procedures ● Be proactive in keeping track of your academic progress by checking your portal on my.ucsc.edu quarterly ● Take ownership for your educational progress and goals ● Meet with an adviser at least once in your first year, and update your proposed major

Adviser ● Provide accurate and personalized academic information ● Understand and effectively communicate curriculum, requirements, and academic policies and procedures ● Be accessible for meetings during office hours, by appointment, telephone or e-mail ● Maintain confidentiality
