Twenty-one years pass, as EPTDA continues to drive
the PT/MC industry towards achievement and evolution
across Europe, Middle East, and Africa. The organization
has led the industry strong during several global financial
crises and technological transformations hitting traditional
businesses. With much pride and responsibility, we
wear the hat of being one of the most trusted industry
associations of its kind.
Welcome to the EPTDA Annual Business Convention 2020 in Warsaw. We look forward to your spirited participation!
As we make an enthusiastic ingress into the third decade
of our operations, we are determined, more than ever,
to facilitate our member companies into streamlining
and strengthening their business processes better and
smarter. With the culmination of the 2nd year of our 3-year
Strategic Plan, it is only opportune to mention that we
are effectively harmonizing a EUR 23 Billion industry that
is generating +318,000 employment opportunities every
year. EPTDA is a brand that stands for compliance, code
of conduct, and ethical business development.
With much admiration and zeal, we encourage you to join
us in the Annual EPTDA Business Convention 2020 to be
held in Warsaw. We eagerly await your presence there,
as we are set to share with you our visualization on the
blueprint of our future course of action planned for the
new decade. The opportunities for the PT/MC industry
on the global stage continues to intensify. And, we are
resolute in bringing you access to these possibilities in
most cutting-edge and proactive ways. The association
is committed to establishing better networking and trade
opportunities, insights on brand awareness and best
practices, actionable market intelligence, and propagating
a thriving global community that is keen on celebrating
growth stories and success sagas.
Our members most appreciate the much-awaited EPTDA
convention for it being one of the rarest industry occasions
when business is pursued with pleasure and ultimate
professionalism. In 2020, the decided destination of
this get-together is none other than the Hilton Warsaw
Hotel and Convention Center - one of the most elegantly
done, and conveniently located properties in Warsaw for
global business events.
Talking about the selection of our destination, the capital
of Poland boasts itself to be one of the most ‘business-
friendly’ destinations in the European Union. Surrounded
by skyscrapers, Warsaw is considered one of the most
successful economies. Naturally, the rhythm and the
pace of this throbbing city matches the intent of our
event, just right!
With every passing year, EPTDA is maturing into being
the mecca of every relevant actor of the PT/MC industry.
The event delivers extensive education, insights, and
learning on how the industry is transforming, what is in
store, how to prepare better, and how to keep growing
the size of your pie.
With much honor, we are announcing, this year the invited
influencers and thought leaders who would be putting
their ideas out include Mr. Idriss Aberkane, President of
the Bioniria Foundation, and Ms. Lora Cecere, Founder
of Supply Chain Insights. MD-IDEX meeting sessions, like
every year, will remain one of the highlights. With that,
do not miss out on putting your best foot forward while
indulging in the various formal and informal networking
opportunities.
As we stand at the onset of this new decade when we
look back, we are filled with gratitude and pride for the
incredible journey we shared with you. Once again, we
choose to reinstate; every promise we ever made, we
delivered it in its full integrity. Our mission remains to
strengthen our members in the industrial distribution
channel to be successful, profitable, and competitive in
serving customers according to the highest standards.
And, we intend to do it in the best and most innovative
ways possible!

WHY
Poland is one of the world’s most successful economies. Since 1989, Poland’s
economy has become almost three times larger. While the rest of Europe fell into
recession following the start of the global crisis in 2008, Poland kept growing.
Once it joined the EU in 2004, Poland benefited from a flood of EU structural
funds, in some sense the equivalent of the post-war reconstruction money it had
missed out on because of the onset of the Cold War.
Warsaw – the capital and largest city of Poland – is the 8th most-populous capital
city in the European Union. It is also a major international tourist destination,
and a significant cultural, political and economic hub. Its historical old town was
designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Warsaw was believed to be one of the most beautiful cities in the world until
World War II. It gained the new title of Phoenix City because of its extensive
history and complete reconstruction after World War II, which had left over 85%
of its buildings in ruins.
Sixth largest economy in the European Union, the city is ranked as one of the
most “business-friendly”, rich in “human capital and lifestyle” and “most livable
cities in Central and Eastern Europe. Together with Frankfurt, London and Paris,
Warsaw is also one of the cities with the highest number of skyscrapers in the EU.
As of 2019, the Polish economy has been growing steadily for the past 28 years,
a record high in the EU and only surpassed by Australia in the world economy.
In 2017, the index provider FTSE Russell changed Poland’s market status from
an emerging market to a developed market.
Now hailed as a prominent center of research and development, business process
outsourcing, information technology outsourcing, and a hub to many of EPTDA
member companies, we are delighted to welcome you to a city that knows how
to rebuild and reinvent itself continuously.

The industrial revolution has left us with a major lie: that
we cannot be productive and fulfilled at the same time;
we have either to be productive and depressed, or to
be fulfilled and unproductive.
While this contradiction is becoming more and more
disproved, especially for technological companies in the
West, in the East this opposition between productivity
and fulfillment is still very much present at all levels of
management.
By presenting simple but powerful principles of behavioral
neuropsychology, this talk will demonstrate rigorously that
fulfillment is actually the one and best tool to maximize
productivity and innovation and that whenever employees
experience a strong and positive emotional attachment
to their task, the output of their work will manifest the
“PPR” of love, mainly precision, perseverance and risk-
taking, all three fundamental ingredients of excellence.
We conclude by describing the two highest forms of
excellence: excellence through fun and excellence
through love.

Technology enhanced by smart analytics tools can bring
greater efficiencies to organizations, who rely heavily on
traditional sales tactics. Business intelligence, pricing
and profitability analysis, inventory forecasting and new
customer prospecting have become much smarter to plot,
thanks to technology, AI and machine learning. While the
cost to use these analytic tools has been reduced to yield
high return on investment, most companies still struggle
in effectively deploying them. The latest Future Leaders
workshop will focus on developing these essential skills
to help increase revenue, improve efficiencies and lower
costs by becoming a more data-driven organization – while
also building excellent communication and leadership
skills to transform businesses for future success.
James Moore has analyzed the European Capital Goods
sector for over 20 years at HSBC, Goldman Sachs and
now Redburn. In Warsaw, James plans to walk through
the current global industrial demand environment and the
outlook for the European mechanical power transmission
markets.

THE BUSINESS AGENDA
MD-IDEX – Manufacturers Distributors Idea Exchange –
platform allows the two stakeholders to meet, through
a mandatory, pre-organized meeting slot of 30 minutes
with each company. The companies can discuss business
opportunities in an open, transparent but regulated
environment. EPTDA facilitated more than 1,000 business
meetings at its last Annual Convention over 1.5 days.
The informal meet and greet platform, the Open
MD-IDEX are an extension of the formal sessions but
more informal and not pre-set. EPTDA has dedicated
2.5 hours to allow members to openly discuss business
opportunities, industry trends, personal development,
personal challenges, and other issues of mutual concern.
This is a legislative general assembly of EPTDA members
to approve the association’s strategy and budget, outlined
by the Board of Directors. The general assembly also
elects its Board of Directors and vote on any proposed
amendments to the EPTDA’s bylaws and/or initiatives.
At the forum, EPTDA also recognizes and awards its
Best Promoters.
The Board of Directors, Executive Committee, Advisory
Council, other Committee & Council members meet twice a
year to drive the association’s strategic roadmap, initiatives
and growth plan. Besides the Annual Conventions, EPTDA
Leadership Conference is a senior leadership conference
allowing members to meet the decision-makers of the
association. The EPTDA Future Leaders will meet at this
occasion too, to steer the association’s initiatives to reflect
the needs of the fast changing digital and environmental
