Placement Brochure 2010
Post Graduate Diploma in Management
I feel delighted and a wee bit excited to present this first
Placement Brochure of the Institute of the PGDM 2008
batch that passes out in 2010. The students of the first
batch are ready to move out in the corporate world and
prove their mettle.
Right from their inception into the PGDM programme the
fleet of 60 students were trained and polished to master
the traits required by the budding managers of tomorrow
and prove themselves in the corporate world. A belief has
been hold by the NCRians that in order to stand out you
need to be different and excel in whatever you do. This
belief has been translated in the behaviour and actions of
the students and combined with the exposure that has
been given to them, makes them changed to experiment
their skills as professionals in their areas of specialization
i.e. Marketing, Finance or Human Resources.
In the vast ocean of employment, I am confident that this
first batch will prove to be assets to organizations in which
they will serve. In their pursuit to excel and succeed they’ll
be the brand ambassadors for the Institute. The Brochure
presents to the Industry the profile of the students and aid
in the right matching of job requirements and the
knowledge and skills possessed by these budding
managers.
Wishing all the best to the recruiters and the PGDM
students 2010 batch a great success.

The PGDM curriculum, spread over four semesters, lays the
foundation for a conceptual and analytical understanding of
Indian and international business. It emphasizes the
development of students’ skills and abilities to apply
management theories and concepts to live problems in business
and industry. Students are expected to achieve high standards of
excellence.
The course has evolving programme content and is constantly
updated to be in tune with the emerging trends. The curriculum is
revised on an ongoing basis through discussions with practicing
managers from the industry to reflect current business needs.
Each semester comprises of a set of detailed courses which
covers both the core as well as elective courses.
The first year includes the core courses that prepare the
student about the fundamental concepts in the field of
management and make them sensitive to the business
environment that they would be expected to operate in.
The second year is divided into two semesters and
includes both the compulsory courses and elective
keeping in mind their long term interests and their
abilities. There is a system of dual specialization (One
major, One minor). A student has to opt for two functional
areas for his specialization from:
Marketing Management
Financial Management
Human Resource Management
Personality Development Programmes and regular workshops
are organized along with various seminars on diverse topics, so
as to groom them into well rounded personality.

NCR Business School therefore emphasizes
activities beyond the conventional classroom
situation. While due importance is given to
classroom learning, the effort is to build
suitable stimuli in non-classroom learning,
interaction and internship to facilitate the
development of the right attitudes, skills and
knowledge on which the participant can base
his or her own architecture of self-
development.
A great deal of emphasis is placed on
experiential learning. Students are required to
work on a number of corporate and academic
research projects during the two years at
campus. Teaching methods include –
lectures, case studies, seminars, group
discussions, quizzes, presentations, role
plays, structured and unstructured group
work and field visits.
There is a strong belief that at the Institute the
technique adopted should be ‘learning by
doing’ and this proves that a true
management education goes beyond the
classroom. The students are therefore
exposed to various industries to have an
understanding of how the management works
in an organization. Also to develop their overall
personality, students are encouraged to
participate in all co – curricular activities held
in the campus as well as to participate in inter
collegiate management fests.
Pedagogy
The choice of pedagogic methods at NCR Business School is based on
a predisposition expressed by the following three proponents:
1. The learning experience must result in the student becoming
employable.
2. Inculcating values, business ethics and social responsiveness in
students which will help them in professional life.
3. Each student must accept responsibility for professional growth
and exce l l ence by se l f l ea rn ing th rough ac t i ve
participation in class room activities.
