Director General’s Message
During the month of October, the core activities of AMGC, capacity building in the form of short courses, were carried out at the Centre for participants from different member countries. Four training courses: namely: Sampling and preparation of Geological materials for laboratory testing; Data integration and Mineral targeting, web mapping, and Analysis of precious metals.
These training courses are attended by participants from Sudan, Mozambique and Uganda. The newly introduced short courses on petroleum geosciences in collaboration with an Egyptian Petroleum Consulting Company called EREX was launched during the month for the first group of course to be carried out during December 2018 – February 2019. The Director General was on three separate missions promoting the Centre’s activities. He was one of the panelists in the African Mining Summit 2018, which was held in Gaborone, Botswana. He also attended the Madagascar Gems and Jewelry Fair in Antananarivo, Madagascar. The Director also visited the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of Ethiopia to discuss issues on how Ethiopia maximize the benefits from AMGC.

Training on Exploration and Mineral Targeting
Certificates awarding Ceremony for 10 Sudanese nationals from Geological Research Authority of Sudan (GRAS) who attended a training course on Exploration and Mineral Targeting from 4th to 16th October 2018. This two weeks training course aims at providing tools to the trainees in using geological, geophysical and geochemical data to identify potential targets for mineral resources discovery.

The AMGC Director General, Mr. Ibrahim Shaddad paid a courtesy visit at the Geological Survey of Ethiopia, during his visit Mr. shaddad had a meeting with Mr. Masresha G/Selassie Gide, the Director General of Geological Survey of Ethiopia (GSE) to discuss maximization of Ethiopia’s benefits from the mineral services provided by AMGC. Mr. Masresha is shouldering the responsibility of Chairing Board of Directors of the African Minerals & Geosciences Centre (AMGC).

AMGC Director General Visit to Geological Survey of Ethiopia
2nd MINEXPO RWANDA 2018 The Ultimate Networking Event For The Mining Industry 06 - 08 December, Kigali Convention Centre, Kigali, Rwanda, the 2nd Minexpo Rwanda 2018 is approaching soon this December to gather the entire mining industry at one place and time. Recognized as the biggest industry event in Africa, Minexpo is held in 3 African countries. The Rwanda event features exhibitors from 15 countries while laying a massive platform for the local mining industry to connect with each other.
SIMFE is the largest and only international Mining Event by Ministry of Minerals, Sudan which each year brings together Sudan and global mining professionals to explore the market, introduce your brand, make new connections, create new partnerships and win projects. Previous SIMFE events have been amazing with thousands of visitors, 150+ exhibitors and hundreds of foreign dignitaries attending from 15+ countries. With US sanctions uplifted, SIMFE 2019 is going to be the biggest of them all, the event will take place at Friendship Hall Khartoum Sudan from 18 – 20 February 2019.

The AMGC Director General, Mr. Ibrahim Shaddad attended the first edition of the international fair of gems and jewels of Madagascar called “MADAGASCAR GEMS AND JEWELERY FAIR. The event took place from 23 to 27 October 2018 at the MINING BUSINESS CENTER (MBC) - Mamory Ivato Antananarivo, Madagascar.
