Contest

- Finals Will Began at 10 am, Saturday the 12th

- All contestants are required to report to the Archives Building NLT 9 am, at the main entrance where they will be met by a commission member

Rules and Procedures

-Contest Rules and Procedures are available on the national website, the department’s website, and your booklet (Links are included in the booklet).

-The contest script is on the department’s website

- Procedures need to be followed so contestants won’t be surprised as they advance

- Judges - Impartial – will need their score sheets; post thru division for contestants that advance to department finals. (Link to Judges Brochure in your booklet)

ASSIGNED TOPICS

Amendment 8Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

Article 1 Section 6 Clause 1The Senators and Representatives shall receive a Compensation for their Services, to be ascertained by Law, and paid out of the Treasury of the United States. They shall in all Cases, except Treason, Felony and Breach of the Peace, be privileged from Arrest during their Attendance at the Session of their respective Houses, and in going to and returning from the same; and for any Speech or Debate in either House, they shall not be questioned in any other Place.   10

Department Finals

-Contestants and parents or chaperone will be entitled to spend the Friday night before the contest at the Embassy Suites (Reservations are already made)

-Please let your contestant know this so that they can make arrangements to come in early and take advantage of what is being offered.

- Contestants and their families will be scheduled for a personal tour of the Alabama State House and a meeting with the Governor. (Working)

- Alternate is a tour of the Rosa Parks Library

For the Division contest we are offering to do your certificates for your volunteers. You must let us know ahead of time so we can produce and send in time for

your Division finals

After Division finals we need (not later than) 14 March the following info: - Contestants complete title and name

- Complete address, phone number, and email address

- Parents, chaperone, or guardian's complete name and contact info
