ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES: -It is said that “Science is a boon and bane”. There are variousenvironmental issues associated with the textile industry.
A large quantity of coal is burnt for the boiler to function.
During dyeing, large quantities of chemicals and effluents aredischarged into the sewage which goes straight to the riversystem.
The Green CorporateAlps industries care for the environment. As an ISO 9002:1994certified company, they have to follow certain safety measures forthe protection of environment: -
The coal used for boiler is re-used in various other small-scaleindustries.
Alps industries have an efficient ‘Water Effluents TreatmentPlant’. The polluted water (containing various chemicals anddyes) is treated with soda lime. Special bacteria are cultivatedwhich helps in killing of other microbes.
The ‘Water Effluents Treatment Plant’ is ejecting out clean andmicrobe-free water into the sewer.
=>‘A Rain Water Harvesting Plant’ is being built.
=>The organic waste is being used to grow trees and gardensacross the campus.
