In January 2008 JISC began its “Business & Community “Business & Community Engagement Programme” Engagement Programme” to support institutions in their strategic management of relationships with external partners and clients

It was driven by the Government's agenda to build the knowledge economy, and in response to a growing understanding that the emerging profession of ‘Knowledge ‘Knowledge Transfer’Transfer’ was fragmented and lacking in agreed frameworks for skills assessments and standards

placements• Lifelong learning• Enterprise facilities, activities and education• Incubation facilities and services• Licensing of content and knowledge assets• Social entrepreneurship/corporate social responsibility

• Training Needs Analysis Training Needs Analysis of BCE practitioners (Workshops, Surveys & 30 face-to-face Interviews were held)

• Investigation into appropriate CPD frameworksCPD frameworks: e.g. AURIL • Mapping of JISC Advance services, resources, events and

activities against framework (Other resources and frameworks will be considered and added later where appropriate)

• Online profiling tool Online profiling tool to allow BCE practitioners to match areas of potential development against available resources

• Series of workshops to promote/develop the above
