Briefly speaking, we want our design of Wyndham Project could touch the visitors both visually and emotionaly. The gateway sculpture is designed to reflect and criticize the isolated situation of the residents licing in the area distant from the metropolis. We hope this representive gateway not only a landmark of the city, but also more about to bring strong emotional impact and rational thinking to all visitors and residents.

Hence, we chose Canton Tower as the precedent of the reversed engineering research as well as structural connection inspiration. ‘The B of Bang’ project designed by Thomas Heatherwick studio, which connected with the death process of a star, was regarded as the visual and emotional expressive inspiration to develop the project. To begin the design, we made the matrix by changing the parameters, which were angles, number of curves and divided points, to experiment the spiral effect of the grid structure based on the digital definition of the Canton Tower. This orginal form was then related to our concept of the project, that presenting the internal feelings of isolated residents, to develop the form.

The sphere form was finally used in our design to reveal a metaphor that the small group of the left people was drawn together and also in another way, represents the internal emotion of them.
