Good Shabbos, Shira. What’s wrong?

Malka was supposed to come over today, but she didn’t show

up.

I bet Malka saw a friend in shul and is hanging out with her instead.

You don’t know that Malka is playing with someone else.

You’ll call her after Shabbos and find out what happened.

I’m not going to call. She’ll have to call and apologize if she ever wants to be my friend

again!

What does that mean?

Chazal tell us:כּות ף ְז& כ( ם ְל& ָאָד, ְל ָה, ת ָּכ, ן ֶא1 י ָד, ֵו5 ָה1

I still don’t understand.

That means that we should give everyone the

benefit of the doubt.

Well, if we have a doubt about something that someone did,

like, if we don’t know why someone did something…

We shouldn’t assume that the person did something wrong;

We should assume that there was a good reason for it.

Hmm… so in this case, I shouldn’t assume that Malka ditched me for

someone else. I should think that maybe she had a good reason for

not coming.

That’s exactly right!

ON MOTZEI SHABBAT…

…You’re right, Malka.

I’m so sorry.

Uhh… this is kind of embarrassing.

I forgot that I was supposed to go to her house.

She wasn’t supposed to come here.

So, what did Malka say?

But she did thatת ָּכֵו ְז לָּכף ָדן

thing.

Oh.

She didn’t think I ditched her.

She figured that I wasn’t feeling well, and

that’s why I didn’t come.

Oh? How did she give you the benefit of the doubt?

Yes, she is.I’m going to learn to

always give people the benefit of the doubt, too!

She’s a good friend.
