exploring the latest ideas in the development of learning commons!

• Facilitated discussions will cover topics including: designing learning spaces to engage specific user populations, fostering knowledge creation, partnerships and services in learning spaces, and library staffing innovations.

o Discussion leader: Crit Stuart, formerly of the Association of Research Libraries and the Library and Information Center at the Georgia Institute of Technology. There he coordinated the evolution of library as place, emphasizing enhancements to spaces, technologies, and services to support student productivity and success in a 24-hour environment.

• A half-day hands-on assessment workshop will explore ethnographic assessment techniques.

• The Innovations Showcase will feature a series of 20-minute presentations by architects and other vendors about the innovative spaces they have created in partnership with academic libraries.

• A reception highlighted by juried poster presentations will showcase learning spaces, services, and assessment projects related to academic learning spaces.

Registration for the two-day conference is $100, which includes breakfast and lunch on both days and the reception. Free parking will be provided. Register on the PLAN website (below). Conference attendance is capped at 150 registrants to allow ample hands-on activity.
