RHS Clubs and Activates

Ridgewood High School offers more than fifty clubs

and other activities for students. Becoming involved

in student activities is a great way to take full ad-

vantage of all that RHS has to offer.

Any student interested in forming a club should con-

tact the Assistant Principal for Student Services. You

may also visit our website for updated an club list.

An activities fee is charged once a year for students

in Grades 6 through 12. The fee at the high school is

$150, and is required of each student who partici-

pates in extra-curricular activities that are funded by

the Ridgewood School District.

RHS High Times News Corner

Why do so many RHS athletes choose to play club sports? The RHS

High Times set out to answer that very question.

“Club teams are available in our area for a wide range of sports, in-

cluding soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, hockey, baseball, softball, wres-

tling, basketball, and more. Typically, teams hold about two or three

practices per week…” To read more about this and other topics visit:

Health information can be found on the Ridgewood High School

website: http://rhs.school.ridgewood.k12.nj.us. Click on Health

Office under Services.

a) Confidentiality/Medical Information: Do not assume that if

your son/daughter has a medical issue the High School staff will

be informed. Confidential health issues are not disclosed to the

teaching staff. If you have a medical concern that you would like

your child’s teachers or coaches to be aware of, please inform

the Nurse in the Health Office (201-670-2800).

b) Medications: If a student needs to take prescription medica-

tion during the school day, a Medication Authorization Form

filled out and signed by the prescribing physician and signed by

the parent must be submitted.

The only over-the counter medications available to Ridgewood

High School students are Acetaminophen, Ibuprofen and Tums

antacid, which have been approved by the District Medical

Officer. A Consent for Administration form must be signed by the

parent/guardian and submitted to the Health Office to be kept

on file.

c) Illness: Illness incapacitating a student in school must be re-

ported to the School Nurse. To ensure that the proper care is

given, no student is to leave the school grounds because of ill-

ness without authorization from the Nurse. Except for emergen-

cies, do not go to the Nurse between classes, unless at her re-

quest. If you are ill, the teacher of your scheduled class will give

you a pass to see the Nurse. Students who become ill during the

school day must report to the Nurse’s office, where appropriate

health care and direction will be given.
