Agency Benefactor
“Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extra-ordinary” --Author unknown
Our son in law, Jason Weinger, who lost his life to the corona virus in May, was the
consummate go-to person for the food pantry of RJFS. No chore too large or too small, Jason was the problem solver. He
and our daughter, Jill with their three children, Tamar, Mikalah and Eli, were well
known volunteers for Rockland Jewish Family Service. Jason did not stop there,
however. He was a volunteer for the Suffern Fire Department and as we are still learning
after his death, he was also the go-to person for family members, for friends who
needed help, and others in the Rockland community. Jason was a humble man , and being honored as an “Unsung Hero” is truly
fitting. With Love and Gratitude for the years
Jason was with us,Bobbie and Marty Goldstein

In Memory of Jason Weinger z”l A mainstay at the RJFS Food Pantry, Jason was also a role model to the Reuben
Gittelman Hebrew Day School community. Drive 8th graders home from a late night Bar Mitzvah party held in
an out of the way location? No location? No problem. Add one more who doesn’t have a ride home, even though
it’s 1:00 a.m.? Of course. Jason never wanted any child to feel left out. Jason always said “yes” no matter how many activities he was involved in. Play dates, class trips to the
firehouse, special events-Jason was always helping, and he never looked for credit or the limelight.
What a wonderful example Jason set for all of us at RGHDS and in the Rockland community.
In Honor of
Carol Blau Whether it’s delivering food to Holocaust survivors in Rockland, working at the Food Pantry, or combing through Costco to find the best quality long
underwear and the warmest wool socks for the homeless people you help in NYC, you’re constantly helping those in need. Mazal Tov to you, our dear friend, on this very well-
deserved honor.
Chanalee Fischer It’s not easy, but your kind, generous, and down to earth neshama manages to outshine your world famous and incredibly delicious challah. Todah
Rabah for your service to our community.
Melinda Levin You do your many mitzvahs with a full heart and always with a smile. Thank you for all you do for
RJFS and so many other organizations in Rockland.
With love,
Judy, Ruth, Eli and Brenda Josephs

Kathryn, Carol, Melinda, Chanalee and all the volunteers,
Thank you for all your tireless efforts during this unusual time in our lives.
Because of you many people were provided with much needed food
and services during the time of the quarantine. We hope this recognition
will show you how much you are appreciated.
In memory of Jason Weinger, he will not be forgotten.
Lyn and Hank Meyers
MOM Of the many times we’ve been blessed to see or hear you get recognized for your work in our community, this honor for you is both the most fitting and least surprising. Mom, you taught us from a young age that it is our obligation in the Jewish faith to help others and do what is right and just; you taught us the highest forms of Tzedakah not just with your words, but also with your continued actions.
We are SO proud of you!
And we applaud all of the honorees for their commitment to this important cause.

Kathryn is our hero Of that you can be sure
She has achieved so very much For the many food insecure
She does so much with good cheer
She’s never in a funk She’s enabled hundreds to get their food
By loading boxes in their trunk
Through the summer’s scorching heat And as the weather’s turned to freeze In our parking lot she gives out masks
And other PPEs
But the most important thing of all As you can surely see
She’s the mom of 3 more heroes Apples all from a mighty tree
We love you, Kathryn!
