A POWER POINT SLIDESHOW ON…

Biodiesel

Changing our world,One tank at a time

Biodiesel is environmentally friendly. This alternative fuel takes almost anything(ex. Used vegetable oil, sewage, soybean, any fats, and algae) and turns it into a clean burning fuel.

This is then used to make electricity and fuel for our cars.

Some typical yields

CropUS gal/acre

Algae 1500-3000

Chinese tallow 97

Palm oil 508Coconut 230Rapeseed 102Soy (Indiana) 50-100Peanut 90Sunflower 82Hemp 26

Chinese tallow•A tree native to Asia that is invading the U.S. and taking over habitats.•The tree has a toxic sap inside and the seeds are covered in a type of wax. •The wax is used to make candles and soaps.•The leaves can be used to make an ointment for boils.

Many are upset about the invasion to our country from this plant, but we could use these plants to create an abundant supply of biodiesel.

States where Chinese tallow is grown and found.

To the left is the palm oil tree and to the right is a bottle of palm oil.

To the left is a close up of the rapeseed flower and the left is a rapeseed field.

Hemp is a worldwide crop, only extremely cold places and rainforests cannot harvest and grow this plant.

This is soy being grown as multiple types. Soy is 80% of the biodiesel production.

Health Affects and Environmental Issues

Biodiesel is mostly recycled plants, so exhaust is all burned plants which has only a fraction of the CO2 emissions of diesel exhaust. Biodiesel is biodegradable and non-toxic. It is almost free of sulfur and carcinogenic benzene (a toxic ingredient in gas exhaust).

Accessibility•Biodiesel is mainly being sold in main inner cities of America, but is quickly spreading throughout other cities.

•Certain places hold different types of biodiesel, defined by the percentage of biodiesel mixed with regular diesel (B20 is 20% biodiesel and 80% diesel).

•Biodiesel is available but hard to get to in certain areas. However, it is currently being produced everywhere, which has created job opportunities throughout America.

Automotive Engines

Biodiesel only runs in diesel engines and depending on the type of biodiesel you are purchasing from your local gas station determines whether or not you will have to have work done on your diesel engine, though its still cheap to get done. The higher percentage of biodiesel you purchase for your vehicle, the more work that needs to be done.

What It Looks LikeBiodiesel is a orange or brown translucent liquid that looks like vegetable oil.

What Do I Think?

Biodiesel to me seems to good to be true. I hope that biodiesel engines will be put inside all types of vehicles and be available everywhere. All of my vehicles will be ran with biodiesel because it is healthy for the environment, you can make it yourself at home, and opens another industry of jobs for people.
