To check out and download, you’ll need…A valid library card Internet access A computer or device that meets the system

requirements for the type(s) of materials you wish to download

Software for the computer or device on which you wish to use the materials available at this site (Overdrive or Adobe Digital Editions, next 2 slides)

For iPads and Phones, too!You can download CPL e-materials onto other devices,

but you’ll use a different program. For these devices, instead download OverDrive Media Console. That is for a different Powerpoint.

Critical Pre-Download InfoOur Nooks can only be SIDELOADED with library books,

not directly downloaded onto. You will need to download all e-books onto a “base” computer.

You must have Adobe Digital Editions downloaded onto that base computer BEFORE you start, and have an “Adobe ID” set up with your email and a password. This is where your item gets downloaded to.

Check your device’s specs compatibility here. There are different download requirements for PCs and Macs.

Make sure you’ve confirmed the A.D.E. permissions.

1. Access Overdrive CPLThis is the e-book vendor that CPL uses. View it here.Type your desired title into the search box:

There are no copies in, so you have to place the item on hold, just like a physical library item.

2. Check out the item by clicking “Add to My Cart”

Do NOT choose the Kindle file! Our Nooks can use any file but those.

3. Confirm the checkout.

4. One more confirmation window…

5. Start the download.

6. Open the file with A.D.E.

This will open Adobe Digital Editions, and the book will automatically be downloaded into the program.

7. Check that it downloaded into your Adobe Digital Editions library.

8. Plug in your Nook to the base computer.

Use the Nook’s USB cable to connect it and turn it on. It should appear in your Adobe Digital Editions library page like this:

9. Drag and DropNow, click on the book you want to transfer and drag it

to your Nook icon as shown below:

10. You’re done!Eject your Nook from the computer. Check that your items are download:

Digital Editions Open up your book!

To Return an ItemClick on the little arrow on the book icon in Adobe Digital

Editions. It will automatically return the item for you. If not, it’ll be deleted on its removal date.
