- are certified annually by the district to have demonstrated satisfactory teaching performance pursuant to Section 1012.72, Florida Statutes

Mentoring can begin the day you achieve National Board Certification
• Mentoring clock ends on the last teacher duty day
• Mentoring clock begins for the next school year on June 1
• Mentoring must be directed to Florida public school teachers
• Mentoring hours may not be received during student contact or teacher planning time

Dale Hickman Excellent Teaching ProgramVerification of Instructional Assignment
Salary Bonus November 2006-January 2007All participants in the Dale Hickam Excellent Teaching Program / National Board of Professional Teaching Standards must establish eligibility based upon
guidelines in State Board Rule 6A-10.060 and have met the following requirements. These requirements must be verified prior to receipt of each bonus:
- 1. Holds a valid NBPTS certificate or notice of certificate award;- 2. Is currently employed full-time as instructional personnel within the meaning of Section 1012.01
(a)-(c), F.S., as reflected by contract, the school district’s personnel salary schedule, or the district’s approved staffing plan;
- 3. Is currently engaged exclusively in activities that further student instruction; for example, through advising, teaching and mentoring students and offering information resources to students;
- 4. Teaches students a majority of the time;- 5. Has demonstrated satisfactory performance on the most recent, regular annual performance
appraisal conducted pursuant to Section 1012.34, F.S.;- 6. Holds a valid Florida educator’s certificate that has never been subject to discipline as a result of
a final order of the Education Practices Commission after a formal, informal, or show cause hearing or settlement agreement within the five (5) years immediately prior to the district’s certification pursuant to Section 1012.72(2)©, Florida Statutes.
National Board certified teachers must meet requirements 1 through 6 annually to maintain eligibility for Dale Hickam Excellent Teaching Program bonuses. The intent of the Dale Hickman Excellent Teaching Program is to keep excellent teachers in the classroom.
