1
Introduction The study proposes comparative analyses on the performances of
different PV array topologies under various irradiance conditions.
Appropriate configuration of PV systems is considered to improve the
performance under various environmental conditions.
“Series-Parallel (SP)”, “Bridge-Link (BL)” and “Total-Cross-Tied
(TCT)” configurations are considered.
Simulation models for PV array topologies are constructed in
Matlab/SIMULNIK and the performances are analyzed with and
without application of bypass diodes.

The proposed PV array includes 36
PV modules in a 6x6 array
configuration.
One-Diode mathematical model of a
solar cell is utilized for modeling
purposes.

Different PV array topologies show similar performances
under identical illumination.
TCT configuration outperforms SP and BL interconnections
under partial shading conditions.
Maximum improvement with bypass diodes: 93.41% (Row-
Wise Shading).
