• 62368 was developed by IEC TC108;

• While it is new to most of us TC108 has been working on this since 2002;

• The 1st edition was released in January of 2010 as an IEC standard

– Was not well received (only the US and 4 other countries)

– TC108 suggested that the 1st ed. be adopted not earlier than five years

• 62368 is HAZARD based not RISK based:

– Does not require or (typically) utilize an ISO/IEC

Guide 51 based or ISO 14971 (60601) type risk

management assessment
