THE SACRAMENTAL LIFE OF OUR CHURCH
THE SACRAMENT OF THE HOLY EUCHARIST THE HOLY SACRIFICE OF THE MASS Saturday: Vigil - 5:00 PM Sunday Schedule: 8:00AM 10:00AM
12 NOON 5:00 PM Weekdays: Monday through Saturday: 9:00 AM Holy Day: See Schedule in Bulletin
COMMUNION TO THE SICK is taken by Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist on a regular basis to those confined to their homes. Please call the Parish Center.
THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM is celebrated on the 1st and 3rd Sundays at 1:30 PM (not during Lent). A family must be registered in the parish, attend the baptismal preparation class, and cooperate with the regulations established by the parish. Our baptismal class is held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 8:00 PM. Please call the Parish Center to register any time during your pregnancy.
THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION is celebrated on Saturday between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM in the Chapel or by appointment.
THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION is celebrated once a year, here at St. Augustine. A candidate must successfully complete our Religious Education program. Adult Confirmation is held on Pentecost Sunday and any interested adults should contact the Parish Center.
THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK is administered at home to any Catholic who is seriously ill. Please call the Parish Center. Any parishioner admitted to a local hospital should contact the Catholic Hospital Chaplain through the hospital. A family member should contact the parish when someone is admitted to the hospital. We will gladly pray for any members who are sick, whether at home or in the hospital, at our Sunday Masses; however, it is necessary for the family to “request” it.
THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY is celebrated by the Pastor or one of our deacons. Weddings may be scheduled on Friday evening, Saturday, or Sunday afternoon. Only a ceremony is permitted on Sunday. The pastor will confirm the date so couples should contact the Parish Center at least ONE YEAR in advance. All the necessary information will be sent to you. The attendance at Pre-Cana or an Engaged Encounter Weekend is required. One must be a registered member of the parish. Our parish upholds the Gospel values and the Church’s teachings regarding the sacredness of marriage and those couples choosing to live together in contradiction of those values, will receive a simple ceremony and all Diocesan regulations followed.
THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY ORDERS and RELIGIOUS LIFE: If you are considering serving God as a priest, deacon, or religious, you may contact your parish priest, deacon, or religious; or phone the Diocesan Office of Vocations at (732) 562-1990.
THE DEVOTIONAL LIFE OF THE PARISH:

“Now the Lord has spoken who formed me as his servant from the womb…” Isaiah 49:5
God have given each of us different gifts. In order for God’s plan to work, you have to do what God is calling you to do and I have to do what God is calling me to do. n And guess what? God has given each of us a different plan! So, stop comparing yourself to others. Don’t let envy and jealousy enter your life. Be thankful for the gifts God has given you and generously share them with others.

MEDITATION FOR JANUARY 19, 2020 By virtue of our baptism, we have been called to be servants for the Father’s mission. As followers of Jesus, we are duty-bound to bring the good news of salvation to a world very much in need of saving. As disciples of the one true God, we must find our voice and speak His holy truth even when
it may be inconvenient or unwanted.
In the first reading, God reminds Isaiah that Israel is the Lord’s servant. Paul greets the Church of Corinth, announcing he has been called to be an Apostles. In the Gospel, John announces Jesus as the Lamb of God.

Letter from your Spiritually Adopted Child *Greetings to my special angels,
At the end of January, I will be about 6 months or 24 weeks along in my development. I measure about 8 ½ inches from my crown to my bottom and weigh about 1lb. 6oz. I have unique hand and footprints now. Whenever there is a loud noise or my mommy makes a sudden movement I react. All and all I am quite
amazing. Thank you for your prayers for my safety and wellbeing. I know that your prayerful witness will be noticed by others and they will be moved to protect the unborn as you do. With love, Robert, Sharon Elizabeth, Anastasia, Jessie, Alexander, Bettina, Albert, John Paul, AnnaMae & James, Betty, Alexandria, Louis, Margaret, Katherine Alice, Zoe & Sebastian, David, Keira Lyn, Brandon, Autumn Marie, Peter, Ciara Nicole, Mary Ann, Suzie, Mary, John, Isabella, Claire Ann & Nicolas, Abigail, Philip, Eve, Christopher, and Mark
“Even the weakest and the most vulnerable, the sick, the old, the unborn, are masterpieces of God’s creation, made in His own image, destined to live forever, and deserving of the utmost reverence and respect.” -Pope Francis

EDGE YOUTH MINISTRY Hello everyone! We started off 2020 with a lively and entertaining meeting! The students worked in small groups to build racing "karts" It was really cool to watch them work together as a group in a short time frame by dividing the work and assisting one another to accomplish the goal. After the karts were made, they brought them to the "track" to begin the race. This game of Mario Kart may have been a watered down version from the video game one but you would never know it with the level of intensity coming from each team! They truly love to compete! The cheering for each teammate, the individual drive to accomplish a task, and the team pride that came from them- they were exuding these gifts without realizing that this is what the Church calls them to be! Overall, it was a great night with many laughs. Some videos are posted on IG stories if you can catch them before they disappear. As we officially crossed through the halfway point of our Edge meetings, I talked to the students about some exciting opportunities that are coming up this semester. On February 8th, there will a Diocesan Youth Day of Reflection for grades 7-12. I handed out permission slips last night but I am happy to email them out if you would like more information. The cost is $20 and it goes from 1:30-7:30. It will be located at St. Joe's in Metuchen. I strongly recommend this event, for 8th grade especially, as it approaches spirituality from an introspective and very "teenage" point of view. I think many of them will really enjoy the day. All permission slips are due back by January 26th meeting. I will be sending emails for the weekly meetings again as a reminder for you. I look forward to continually growing with your children and as a result, feeling inspired in my own faith! As always, my prayers are with you as the front lines to forming our young Church. Coleen Paras
READ ANY GOOD BOOKS LATELY?
Soon you can help someone answer YES to this question. Our Adventures in Reading Ministry will be collecting new and almost new books for
children in Pre-K through 5th grade. These books will be donated to the schools and libraries in New Brunswick. What a difference they make for the children! For adults we also collect soft covered books of a spiritual, Christian nature for our House of Hope Ministry. So take a look at the books taking up space on your shelves and in closets and boxes around the house. The collection will be during the weekend of February 8th and 9th in the church Gathering Area.
