STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: District adminis-tration has initiated a projectfor construction of buildingsfor 100 schools in districtfunctioning without buildingand often facing closure dueto bad weather. In an attemptto provide enabling atmos-phere for education in remoteand hilly areas 100 schoolswill be constructed in sixmonths under convergence ofvarious schemes of differentdepartments.

A District LevelCoordination Committeeheaded by the DDC and com-prising of officers fromDepartments of Education,Rural Development, Revenue,PHE and Panchayats hasbeen constituted for weeklymonitoring of progress andresolving local issue for con-struction. SDMs will super-vise construction which isbeing done through Rural

Development Department.Education Department hassponsored 45-50per centfunding for the project whileremaining funds are beingprovided under convergenceof various schemes. These100 schools will be construct-ed at an estimated cost of Rs9 Cr against required fundingof Rs 12 Cr out of whichEducation Department willprovide Rs 4.53 Cr.

The zone wise schools select-ed for construction of build-ings include three in RajnagarZone, 10 in Thanamandi,four in Kalakote, 20 inKoteranka, five in Moughla,

three in Doongi, 14 in Darhal,three in Dandesar, nine inManjakote, one in Nowshera,one in Lower Hathal, nine inPeeri, nine in Baljarallan andnine in Khwas Zone. Theseschools have a total enrolmentof 3,181 during current yearand construction of buildingsthe enrolment, especially ofgirl students is expected tonearly double.

In entire district there are163 schools without buildingout of which 100 selected forconstruction of buildingsinclude 40 located in RajouriConstituency, 40 in DarhalConstituency, 14 in Kalakote

constituency and six inNowshera Constituency.Schools with enrollment of 20and above out of 163 build-ing-less schools have beenselected for the project to pro-vide buildings this fiscalunder convergence ofschemes. An independentinter-departmental engineer-ing team will inspect schoolsfor quality of construction.Remaining 63 schools withenrollment below 20 and with-out school buildings will betaken up during second phaseof project.

UDHAMPUR: Majaltapolice on Monday recov-ered two bodies of localyouths from a Nallah inmysterious circumstances.

According to a report,Majalta Police recoveredtwo bodies of local youthslying in mysterious cir-cumstances in a Nallahand shifted to PHCMajalta.

Bodies were identified asthose of Vicky Kumar sonof Khajoor Chand resi-dent of village PlaterTehsil Majalta and RakeshKumar son of Jabroo Ramresident of Mansar.

Both the bodies werehanded over to familymembers of victims afterconducting autopsy.Majalta Police has regis-tered case for investiga-tion.

According to a report,Kuldeep Singh son of GopalSingh resident of JakhaniUdhampur took some poi-sonous substance in hishouse to end his life. Victimwas shifted to DistrictHospital Udhampur wheredoctors declared himbrought dead. Police handedover the body to his familymembers after conductingautopsy and registered acase for investigation.
