At least since the founding of the library at Alexandria (circa 280 BC) libraries

have been gathering and making available a range of texts and items

Content made available by the media of the time: handmade tablets, scrolls,

codices, and then, with the invention of printing, books and journals

The technology of printing enabled rapid production and copying for the

dissemination of knowledge.

But the print format has limitations: one can’t search, hyperlink, embed or

quickly and efficiently develop a conversation on/in/around print
