Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is considered to be one

of the greatest musicians of all time.

Mozart was born in 1756. When he was only a boy of 4, he learnt

to play the violin. He was such a talented composer that he wrote

a tremendous amount of music in his short life. People praised him for his wonderful music but no one paid him

any money. He was so poor that he couldn’t pay his bills. In the

end, he became seriously ill and died at the age of 35.

TV Commentary: Would you like to be able to play a musical instrument really well? Who wouldn't! Perhaps you are learning to play an instrument now. Perhaps your mother tells you to practice-and perhaps you don't enjoy it! We'd all like to play easily as well. Mozart could. His parents never told him to practice. They couldn't stop him! Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was born in 1756. He learnt to play the violin at the age of four. In his short life he wrote a tremendous amount of music. Everybody praised Mozart for his wonderful music, but nobody paid him any money. He got poorer and poorer and couldn't pay his bills. In the end he became ill and died. He was only 35 years old. He is one of the greatest musicians of all time.

Ludwig van Beethoven was one of the greatest musicians of all time. Much of his music was filled with great joy. However, Beethoven’s life was filled with unhappiness. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in 1770 in Bonn, Germany. He had a difficult and miserable childhood. At the age of 4, he started to learn to play the piano.

When Beethoven was about sixteen, he went to Vienna to realize his dream. While he was there, he played for many important people, including the famous composer Mozart, who praised him for his wonderful music. Unfortunately, when Beethoven was in his late twenties, he began to lose his hearing and became totally deaf in the end. However he continued to compose music. He wrote a tremendous amount of music in his life.

Beethoven died in Vienna in 1827 when he was 57.

Bizet Georges, known for his opera---Carmen, is one of the world’s most talented musicians.

On October25, 1838, Bizet was born in a happy, musical family in Paris. He began to learn music at the same time he learned letters and showed a great talent for music. When he was 4 years old, his mother taught him to play the piano and he enjoyed practicing the musical instrument. By the age of ten, he had composed some wonderful pieces of music. In 1857, Bizet set off for Rome and stayed there for three years. When he returned to Paris, he began to write operas. Though his operas were not highly praised at that time, they are now considered masterpieces of all time.

On June3, 1875, the great pianist and composer died from a heart attack. He didn’t live to see his great success.

GranadosSpanish

GranadosGranados, born on July 27, 1867, was a Spanish pianist and

composer of classical music. He composed his music in a unique Spanish style.

When he was a 16-year-old boy, he came top in a piano competition at school. In 1887, he went to Paris for further study and returned to Barcelona two years later. By 1900, he had become one of the famous musicians in Spain. People enjoyed listening to his music and even the king praised him for his compositions.

In 1916, he was invited to perform in New York for the first time and it was a great success. Unfortunately, on the way back to Spain, he was drowned in the English Channel together with his wife.

Although he died early, the large amount of music he composed will live on and on forever.

Rentarō Taki

Taki is one of the best-known composers of Japan.Taki was born in Tokyo on August 24, 1879. During

his childhood, he moved to many places because of his father's job. He graduated from the Tokyo Music School in 1898 and went to Germany to study music further in 1901. Unfortunately, he fell seriously ill and in 1902 he had to go back to Japan. He lived quietly in the country afterwards, but soon died on June 29th, 1903.

Although he died early, the music he composed is highly praised and still very popular in Japan.
