New England Early Learning Center (C1).Library: Hodge Memorial Library (C2), Minor Memorial Library (C2).Places of Worship: Congregational (C2), Episcopal (C2), Roman Catholic (C2), Shepaug Valley Bible Church (at Town Hall).Principal Industry: Agriculture.Parks and Recreation: Sherman Park (E1), Hurlburt Park (C2).Post Office: Roxbury (C2), 06783.History: The area was settled about 1713, as part of Woodbury. A parish was organized in 1743, and the town was incorporated in 1796. In early days a silver mine was opened on Mine Hill. When iron was found in the mine, a smelting furnace was built. Later, the mine was used by The Columbia University School of Mines for demonstration purposes. Three leaders of “The Green Mountain Boys” came from Roxbury: Ethan Allen, Seth Warner and Remem-ber Baker.
