COPING with COVID RESILIENCE - Relationships
“Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of the overcoming of it.” Helen Keller
Another way to Build your Resilience is through Relationships. During this pandemic we have, to various degrees, been cut off from our families, friends, coworkers and everyone we used to encounter in our daily lives. This has had a huge impact on us, and we have each responded to this disruption differently. Many of us have come to appreciate our Relationships even more, and we continue to connect with others as much as we can. Others may have been overwhelmed by loneliness and are struggling to find a way to reconnect. Some may have found peace in the isolation and time away from Relationships that may have been overwhelming, and others may have been stuck in close quarters in an unhealthy relationship. Whatever your situation, God created us to live in community, to be in Relationship with all of his Creation, including other people. Good Relationships are mutual, supportive and loving. They listen when you need to talk, they laugh and cry with you, they journey with you through the ups and downs. Even if you do not have good Relationships in your life right now, keep searching for them, because God works in our lives through the people around us, and we gain Resilience when we reach out to each other and journey together.
Thank you to Teresa Hartnett for sharing many of these ideas with us! NOTE: If you are concerned for your own or a loved one’s immediate safety please consult with your doctor, counsellor, therapist, CAMH, Telehealth or call 911.
