LAST DAY
ST SOPHIA'S NEEDS YOU!
We are all familiar with completing our Stewardship card every year, pledging to contribute a certain amount of money annually. But what other ways can we be Stewards of the church?
Another way is to serve on the Parish Council !
A few of the Parish Council responsibilities:
• Oversee the everyday operations of our church building.
• Sees that everything is in good repair.
• Assist at special functions as needed.
• Maintain the church finances
• Oversee the narthex operations. • Conduct all the necessary business of our organization.
Step forward and Run for a position on St Sophia's Parish Council !
Our committee looks forward to speaking with all interested parties. Contact information for the Election Committee is as follows:
Candidate ELIGIBILITY
1. A candidate for the Parish Council must be a member of the Parish for a minimum of one (1) year prior to Election Day (November 10, 2019).
2. Candidates, including their spouse, must have PAID THEIR STEWARDSHIP PLEDGE IN FULL FOR
THE 2018 YEAR, AND HAVE PAID A MINIMUM OF ¾ OF THEIR 2019 STEWARDSHIP
PLEDGE, AT LEAST 15 DAYS PRIOR TO THE DATE OF THE ELECTION (Saturday, October 26, 2019).
3. Applications may be obtained at the Church Office from the Secretary, a Parish council Member, or a Board of Elections member. Electronic copies are also available.
4. The application requires two (2) countersigning witnesses. Witnesses must be eligible voters, with their stew-ardship paid in full for 2018, and a completed and submitted Stewardship pledge card for 2019. It is the can-didate’s sole responsibility to verify their co-signers are in good standing per this rule to avoid embarrassment and disqualification.
5. The deadline for submitting candidate applications to any member of the Board of Elections or to the church office is on or before Sunday, October 20, 2019, when eligibility will be verified. Applications submitted after October 20, 2019, will not be accepted. Resume information will be published to the Community. A resume form is attached to the petition.

Online Giving
Easy & Secure Available Now
Parishioners and friends of St. Sophia's can now make one-time or recurring donations directly on our parish website. Stop worrying about weekly envelopes or mailing in special donations or memorial donations. Instead, give a gift at any time (from any device that connects to the internet) using a current email and checking account or credit card. It’s simple and secure. You can even turn your stewardship donation into an automatic gift that gives when and how often you’d like with your own online donor account. There is no fee to you. The church incurs the transactions fees. But for any stewardship contribution or donation made in the month of October, your donation will be processed free of any fees. So don't delay!

Youth Safety Policies
The Archdiocese has mandated that all adults (anyone 18 years old and above) who work with the youth of our Parish must comply with the Policies For The Safety of Children and Youth.
To comply, each youth volunteer must take two online youth safety courses and submit to an official background check. If you are a youth volunteer or plan to be one, please email Stephanie Armatas at searmatas@gmail.com providing her with your FULL LEGAL NAME, PHONE NUMBER, AND YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.
We ask that each youth volunteer be certified by December 8th to meet the Archdiocese mandated deadline. For any compliance questions, please email Peter Manolakos at petermanolakos1@gmail.com with your query.
