Directions to the club field: From Leatherhead, take the A245 Leatherhead Road signposted for
Cobham and the Crematorium. Pass the Crematorium on the left, and just before the next
roundabout, take the left turn into River Lane. The field is situated on the right hand side, after
Fetcham Park Utd football club. There is NO access to the Riding Club Field from Fetcham side
of River Lane.

Rules & Conditions of Entry
• Competitions are run in accordance with British Riding Club rules
• All ridden horses and ponies must be 4 years of age or over
• No entry will be refunded after the closing date except on production of a medical or veterinary certificate
• The judge’s decision is final and any objections must be made in writing within 15 minutes of the incident and
accompanied by a £15.00 deposit, which will be refunded if the objection is sustained
• It is a condition of entry that no responsibility will be accepted by the organisers, their representatives or helpers
for any loss or damage to spectators, competitors, their horses, grooms, friends or property under any
circumstances whatsoever
• Bookham Riding Club reserves the right to refuse or cancel any entry without disclosing a reason or to alter, split,
amalgamate or cancel classes if found to be necessary
• It is the responsibility of all competitors to present themselves in time for the classes in which they are entered
• Horses must NOT be left tied to unattended vehicles
• All dogs must be kept on a lead on the showground at all times
• NO BICYCLES to be ridden on showground
• Prizes and/or rosettes may be withheld if there are insufficient entries in a class
• Protective headgear, properly secured, must be worn at all times when mounted. Hats BSI Kitemark of standard
EN1384 (1996), BSEN 1384(1997)*; PAS015 (1998 or 2011); SEI mark ASTM F1163 (2004a); SNELL E2001
with official SNELL label and number; SAI Global Mark AS/NZS 3838 (2006). Skullcap hats must be worn with

• * NOTE: New hat ruling effective 1/1/16 – Hats only meeting standard for EN1384 or BSEN1384 and other
standards will NOT be acceptable
• All competitors must wear correct riding dress. Body protectors are recommended and are compulsory for some
events
• From 1 January 2018, we will not be accepting Beta Level 3 Body Protectors with a 2000 label. All labels
will need to be 2009 onwards.
• It is the responsibility of all participants to clear up their rubbish and debris and leave the showground fit for
grazing. Please do not muck out your horsebox/trailer on the showground
The organisers of these shows have taken reasonable precaution to ensure the health and safety of everyone
present. For these measures to be effective everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and
prevent accidents occurring and must obey instructions of the organiser and all the officials and stewards.

Sunshine Tour Qualifiers. The Sunshine Tour is a fun and exciting National Championship for
unaffiliated amateur competitors of all ages and abilities. The Championships are being held on the
‘hallowed turf’ of The All England Showground at Hickstead from Thursday 14th-Sunday 17
th
September 2017. The Championship features: Dressage from intro to elementary; Show jumping from
30cm to 1.05m; Showing for lead rein, in-hand, ridden and many more
All you need to do is be placed 1st to 4
th in a qualifying class!

Retraining of Racehorse Riding Club Challenge Most shows will include the RORRCC. Points will be awarded for each
class and the ROR registered ex racehorse with the most points will be awarded special

Prix Caprilli Riding Test II - copy of test at back of schedule
Purpose: For horses with jumping experience competing First Level Dressage and above – maximum height of fences 2’6”. It is
understood that in the working gaits, a jumping horse is not expected to be as round on the bit as a competing dressage horse. The
horse must softly accept the bit and may show more “roundness” in the parts of the tests separate from the jumps. Unless
otherwise noted, trot work may be done posting or sitting. When allowed to change leads the horse may do a flying change or
change through the trot. The quality of the change is what matters. Test may be called. Refusals will be penalized as an error of
course. Knockdowns will be penalized at the judge’s discretion. In the case of a knocked down rail being in the way, the judge
will ring the bell for the rider to stop without penalty. After the jump is replaced the bell will be rung again telling the rider to
continue from where he stopped.
No spurs or martingales are allowed, and whips must be under 75cm.

TREC PTV (obstacle) PRACTISE
Sunday 23 April
Details:
This training is aimed at beginners and novices – priority will be given to Bookham Riding Club
members. Each session will last up to 1½ hours depending on numbers.
Obstacles may include: Low branches, gate, S bend, bending, rein back, corridor, bridge, side
pass and neck reining. Advice will be given on how the obstacles are scored and how these and
other obstacles should be ridden.
Applications:
Please complete entry form and return with details of anyone you would like to share a session
with. Please advise your Trec experience/level. Confirmation of your time will be sent by email.

VERSATILE TREC HORSE / PONY Sunday 7 May
Class 1. Novice Combination not to have been placed 1st
– 6th
in a ridden Versatile Trec, full
Trec or Indoor Trec Competition.
Section 1. Obedience Test (Novice - Walk and Trot). To be performed in a 20m x 40m
dressage arena and marked on accuracy and obedience of transitions rather than paces and way
of going.
Section 2. Obstacles. Ten obstacles with a maximum of 10 points at each. Full details of
obstacles and scoring will be available on the day. The emphasis will be on the type of obstacle
you may meet in a Trec competition.
Section 3. Control of Paces. Horse/pony required to trot as slowly as possible along a
measured track then return in walk as fast as possible. Points given on a sliding scale.
Maximum of 15 points for each. A break of pace results in a zero score for that pace.
Class 2. Intermediate (Intermediate Test) Combination not to have been placed 1

GYMKHANA FUN DAY
(Open to all ages!)
Monday 29 May

Class 1: Fancy Dress
Followed by the Gymkhana games: maximum 6 per heat, if more than 6 entries two heats before
a final.
Class 2: Bending race – Under 8s The leader guides the pony and rider through the lane of cones,
alternately passing left then right, a complete turn is made round the last cone to return to the line in the
same way.
Class 2a: Bending race – Over 8+ (these riders must not be able to control a pony on their own) as
above.
Class 3: Ball & Bucket – Under 8s Pony and rider are led to the far end of the arena where the
leader will pick up a tennis ball from behind the cone, hands it to the rider, who then throws it in the
bucket, If the ball misses the bucket the leader will retrieve it and hand it back to the rider to try again.
Class 3a: Ball & Bucket – Over 8+ (these riders must not be able to control a pony on their own) as
above.
Class 4: Walk & Trot – Under 8s The leader guides the pony in a straight line, but must stay in walk
up to the cone, once they turn around the cone they can trot back. Anyone who exceeds the pace must
turn a circle, under penalty of elimination. Class 4a: Walk & Trot – Over 8+ (these riders must not be able to control a pony on their own) as
above.
Approx 1pm start Open and Adult games:
Class 5: Hoop race – Open Rider and pony ride up to the far end of the course, go round the end cone,
then on the way back dismount and go through a hula hoop placed on the centre line, remount and pass
the finish.
Class 5a: Hoop race – Adults only as above.
Class 6: Egg (tennis ball) & Spoon race – Open Egg and spoon must stay together from start to
finish. If the egg drops off the spoon, the rider must dismount and pick up the egg and start again.
Class 6a: Egg (tennis ball) & Spoon race – Adults only as above.
Class 7: Walk & Trot – Open Riders must walk their ponies to the far end, round the post, then trot
back to the finish line. Anyone who exceeds the pace must turn a circle, under penalty of elimination.
Class 7a: Walk & Trot - Adults only as above
Class 8: Walk, Trot, Canter & Run – Open Riders must walk their ponies to the far end, round the
post, then trot back to the first post, canter back up to the top, dismount, take reins under the head and
lead the pony back to the line. Anyone who exceeds the pace must turn a circle, under penalty of
elimination.
Class 8a: Walk, Trot, Canter & Run – Adults only as above.
Class 9: Bending Race – Open You dictate the pace, alternately passing left then right, a
complete turn is made round the last cone to return to the finish line in the same way.
Class 9a: Bending Race – Adults only as above.
Class 10: Apple Bobbing – Open Riders proceed to the far end of the course, dismount and must
apple bob out of a bucket of water 2 apples on to the floor. The rider then must remount and ride back
down the course through the finish line.
Class 10a: Apple Bobbing – Adults only as above.
