B O A T I N GBOAT L AUNCH10 ramps at the East Boat Launch and eight ramps at the West Boat Launch allow easy access to Kent Lake. There are 93 slips available for rent by season. The 10 mph speed limit is strictly enforced. Boats are prohibited on Wildwing Lake and King� sher Lagoon. A Metropark Boat Permit is required.
BOAT REN TALPaddleboats, paddleboards, kayaks, canoes, character paddleboats, and rowboats are available at the Boat Rental near Maple Beach. Special rates are o� ered for seniors on weekdays only, no weekends or holidays. Life jackets are provided. Vending is available at the Boat Rental.
C ANOEING AND K AYAK INGPaddle to our overnight camp. Sites must be reserved in advance through the Park O� ce and are for one night only, permit required. Personal vehicles are not permitted onsite.
C O N C E S S I O N SFood is sold at the Farmhouse Grille and Martindale Beach. Availability will vary depending on the season.
Food and beverages, including beer, wine, and liquor are sold at the Golf Starter Building. No outside alcoholic beverages or coolers allowed.
D I S C G O L FThe 27 hole, Black Locust Disc Golf Course islocated across from Martindale Beach. The course is open daily throughout the year during park hours. An annual bag tag, which gives unlimited play at all Metropark courses, or a daily wristband, is required to play.
E Q U E S T R I A N T R A I L SIndividuals with their own horses may use 18 miles of marked equestrian trails. The staging area is located o� Martindale Road. A release waiver and bridle tag are required in advance. To obtain a waiver and bridle tag, please contact the Park O� ce. Pets and biking are prohibited on the trails.
E X C U R S I O N B O A TDuring the summer months, the “Island Queen III,” a 46-passenger pontoon boat, makes hourly trips daily from the Boat Rental dock. Hours of operation are from noon until 6 p.m. Special rates are o� ered for seniors (62+) and children (12 and younger). Group charters are available during unscheduled hours
F I S H I N GLargemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, bluegills, perch, and crappies are abundant in Kent Lake during the summer months. Pike, bluegills, and crappies dominate in the fall. Shore � shing sites are located near the East Boat Launch and West Boat Launch. Several barrier-free � shing piers are also located at the West Boat Launch. A Michigan Fishing license is required. Fishing is prohibited on King� sher Lagoon and at posted areas of Wildwing Lake. Water depth maps are available at the Boat Rental and Park O� ce.
F I T N E S S T R A I LThis exercise trail is designed to provide a well-balanced routine of physical activity. The trail starts in the East Play� eld Picnic Area.
G O L F2 4 8 -2 2 7 - 8 9 16This 6,624 yard, 18-hole, par-72 course o� ers power carts, pull carts, and clubs for rent. Senior (55+) and junior (20 and younger) rates are available. Some restrictions apply.
G R O U P C A M P I N GProperly sponsored and supervised youth groups may use the 380-acre rustic tent camping area, complete with wells and pit toilets. Campsites are available year-round for daily outings and overnight stays. Permit is required. No alcoholic beverages permitted in the area. Firewood can be purchased at the Park O� ce. Swimming is permitted only at park beaches onKent Lake.
H I K E - B I K E T R A I LAn 8.5 mile paved hike-bike trail traverses the picturesque landscapes that circle Kent Lake. A 3.4 mile trail extends north from the loop, connecting to the village of Milford. Pets on a six foot leash are permitted.
P E T SDogs and other pets are permitted in the park only when kept on a six foot (or less) leash. Pets are not permitted in the nature and farm areas, buildings, on beaches, equestrian trails, cross-country ski trails, or golf course.
P I C N I C STables, grills, and shelters are located throughout the park. Please register with the Park O� ce if you have a group of 50 people or more. Shelters can be reserved for a fee.
P L A Y G R O U N D SThere are several playgrounds scattered throughout the park. The largest play structure can be found at Martindale Beach.
R E N T A L SB U I L D I N G SThe Farm Center Barn, Farm Center Classroom, and Nature Center Classroom are available to rent for parties and private events.
B O N F I R E SRiverside � repits are available for rent in conjunction with hayrides by calling the Park O� ce a minimum of 10 days in advance.
S P L A S H ‘ N ’ B L A S TLocated at Martindale Beach, the Splash ‘n’ Blast o� ers two, 240-foot curving waterslides and a water sprayground with cannons, palm treesand serpents using pool-quality water. Waterslide riders must be at least 42” tall. Dressing rooms are available . The Splash ‘n’ Blast is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
S W I M M I N GMartindale Beach is open Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Bathhouses are available on site at Martindale Beach. Alcohol and grills are prohibited in the beach area. Pets are prohibited on the sand area and in the water. NO LIFEGUARDS ON DUTY
W I N T E R S P O R T SCROSS- COUN TRY SK I INGThere are more than 12 miles of classical groomed trails suitable for novice, intermediate, and advanced skiers. The Ski Center (Golf Starter Building), is open weekends and holidays, and provides restrooms. Special equipment rental rates are available for organized groups on weekdays with advance reservation. Beginner-level trails are on the golf course. More advanced trails are located throughout the park.
ICE FISHINGIce � shing is permitted on Kent and Wildwing lakes. Shanties must be marked on all four sides with name and address, and must be removed by March 1 or earlier if the ice becomes unsafe. A Michigan Fishing license is required.
ICE SK ATINGIce skating rinks are located on Kent Lake near the Boat Rental. The rinks are lighted during the evening. Restrooms can be found at the Boat Rental. No skate rentals.
SLEDDING AND SNOWBOARDING HILL SThe slopes at the Orchard picnic area o� er beginning, intermediate, and advanced sledding hills. A special bunny hill is designated for young children. Snowboarding is allowed on a designated hill. A nearby shelter has picnic tables and grills. Slopes are open from 11 a.m. to dusk on weekdays, and 10 a.m. to dusk on weekends, weather permitting. Saucers and in� atables are prohibited on the advanced and intermediate hills.
TOBO GGANINGThe winter sports area also o� ers two toboggan runs. Toboggans must be standard toboggans. Toboggan runs are open from 11 a.m. to dusk on weekdays, and from 10 a.m. to dusk on weekends and holidays, weather permitting. Sleds and snowboards are prohibited on the toboggan runs.
Stop by the Nature Center where you will � nd exhibits and live animal displays to enhance your understanding and enjoyment of the natural environment and human history of this area. Park interpreters are available to answer questions during open hours.

N A T U R E T R A I L SSeven miles of trails take you beyond the river and into some of Michigan's rarest and most diverse wetlands. There's a prairie fen, a shallow spring-fed lake, and a relict conifer swamp. Trails are open during posted park hours.

Take a break from city life at the Farm Center, where you can experience the sights, sounds, smells and feel of life down on the farm. Visit the farm animals plus see the herb garden, � eld crops, and old-fashioned farm equipment on display. Farm interpreters are available to help create a better understanding and appreciation of farm life.

P O I N T S O F I N T E R E S TThe Horse Barn, originally built in 1856, was moved to this farm in 2001, and now houses a team of draft horses. In March, Interpreters demonstrate how sap is tapped from maple trees and boiled into syrup at the Sugar Shack. Popular destinations at the farm include the Kensington Living History Village; the Kid’s Cottage, a natural building with a thatched roof; and the children’s interactive area that features a seasonal grass maze, playground equipment, and a labyrinth. In October, take a hayride to the farm’s pumpkin patch and pick your own pumpkin to take home.
