EVENTSSUPPORTEDBYTHESFCTPEACEPARKSFOUNDATIONPANELDISCUSSION,LONDONInOctober, theStonehageFlemingLondonofficehostedadrinks receptionandpanel discussion in collaboration with Peace Parks Foundation. PanelmembersincludedGeneralJohanJooste(HeadofSpecialProjects,SANParks),MichaelNaylor(Advisory BoardMember,University of Cambridge) andWernerMyburgh (CEO,PeaceParksFoundation),(picturedlefttoright).Thetopicofdiscussionwas“WildlifeCrimeandCommunityDevelopment”whichsparked a variety of conversations and debates from the panel and guestscombined.Attendees included: John Rhodes, Gerrit Smit, Hamish Sinclair,MichaelBerman,JohnVeale,MarkMusgraveandCressidaGrant.

ROYALPARKSHALFMARATHON,LONDON

AStonehageFlemingteamcomprising18runnersparticipatedintheRoyalParksHalfMarathoninOctober.TheteamraninproudsupportoftheReubenImagingCentreattheRoyalMarsdenHospital.TheyalldidremarkablywellwithJoeToomeycominginfifthplace(outof16,000people),finishingin1hourand15minutes.Theyalso smashed theirGBP10,000 targetand raisedGBP13,135.50whichwenttowards the TRIGGER Trial: a research project aimed at improving personalisedtreatmentforcolorectalpatientsusingMRIscanningattheRoyalMarsdenHospital.Ahuge‘thankyou’toallthatdonated,andcongratulationstotheteamforfinishingtherace!

SANDSTORM,JERSEY TheJerseyOfficeenteredateamofhardcoreathletesinto‘SandStorm’inOctober,Jersey’sdefinitiveadventurerace,inaidoftheBritishHeartFoundation.Sand Storm competitors overcame the harsh terrain throwing themselves overwalls,crawlingunderbarbwire,scramblingupanddownsanddunesandploughingthroughwaterobstaclestobethefirstovertheline!TheJerseyteamconsistedofKarenOliver,AgnieszkaMastalerz,MarkSwart,SavvasMallas,LucyGoggin,OmarrBundu-Kamara,HannahCampbell,LouiseBashfordandKatieFosse.Welldoneteamforcompletingtherace!

DIMBLEBYCANCERCAREDINNERWITHLORDPATTEN,LONDONInNovember,LordPatten joinedus foradinner toprovidehis insighton theUSelections. Lord Patten was joined by Jonathan Dimbleby (pictured right) and 16guestsinproudsupportofDimblebyCancerCare.DimblebyCancerCarewasestablishedin1966followingthedeathofBroadcasterRichardDimbleby.Thecharityfundsnationalresearchanddirectcareserviceswiththesimpleaimtomakelifebetterforpeoplelivingwithcancer–notjustthepatientsthemselves,buttheirfamiliesandcarers.HamishSinclairandCressidaGrantattendedthisevent,whichhasraisedoverGBP3,000forDimblebyCancerCare.

CENTREPOINTLUNCH,LONDON

SAINT(STELLENBOSCHANIMALSINNEEDTRUST),SOUTHAFRICA In November, Tokara wine and olive farm in Stellenbosch hosted a successfulcharity fundraising dinner in support of the charity, SAINT. SAINT is based inStellenbosch and provides financial security to a number of animal welfareorganisationsinthearea.StonehageFlemingdonatedoneoftheauctionitemsandtheeventraisedatotalofZAR280,000.The invitation came through ThomasWithington’s father, CharlesWithington,who is one of the trustees. JP and Anneke du Plessis represented StonehageFlemingatthedinner.

STCHRISTOPHER’SDINNERATGOLDSMITHS’HALL,LONDONTheannualStChristopher’sprivateclientandcharitylawyerdinnertookplaceonWednesday18NovemberinthemagicalsettingofGoldsmiths’HallinLondon.SusieHillier andVivianHainesattended this glitteringannual event,whichhasraisedoverGBP2million for the charity since it startedback in 2000. This yearCharles Moore, authorised biographer of Margaret Thatcher, delivered afascinating after dinner speech andmusic was kindly provided by The EnglishConcert.StChristopher’sHospiceexiststopromoteandprovideskilledandcompassionatepalliativecareofthehighestqualityforthedying.

FIRSTLOVEFOUNDATION,LONDON InDecember,theLondonofficeworkedwithFirstLoveFoundationtoprovide Christmas gifts to children aged 0-18 years in the TowerHamlets community,oneof thepoorest communities in theUK.TheLondonofficeemployeesdonatedahugenumberofgiftsandraisedatotalofGBP400fromour‘ChristmasJumperDay’forthecharity.First Love Foundation, initially set up in 2010, aims to provideemergency support to thousands of people across TowerHamlets.Theyareasmall,independentcharitywhosefocusistohelppeopleintheUK’smostdeprivedboroughsgettheirlivesbackontrack.ThankstoallintheLondonofficewhogenerouslydonatedtothiscause.
