What Am I Supposed to Learn from the Torah?

Hosea 5:15 “In their misery they will

earnestly seek me.”

GENESIS

“I have a plan: you are invited to my

party.”

Genesis 3:15 “I will put enmity between

you and the woman, and between your

seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your

head, and you shall bruise His heel.”

Genesis 12:3 “I will bless those who

bless you, and I will curse him who

curses you; and in you all the families

of the earth shall be blessed.”

LESSONS:

1. Human failure is assured.

2. Never underestimate your sin nature.

3. Never underestimate My

determination to redeem your messes.

EXODUS

“I will do whatever it takes to carry out

My plan.”

Exodus 6:6 Say to the children of

Israel: “I am the Lord; I will bring you

out from under the burdens of the

Egyptians,

I will rescue you from their bondage,

and I will redeem you with an

outstretched arm and with great

judgments.”

1. I revealed My power to set you free.

2. I revealed My Holiness

Exodus 20:2 "I am the LORD your God,

who brought you out of Egypt, out of the

land of slavery. 3"You shall have no

other gods before me.

3. I revealed My passionate love by

moving in with you.

Exodus 25:8-9 "Then have them make a

sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among

them.

9Make this tabernacle and all its

furnishings exactly like the pattern I

will show you.

LEVITICUS

Holiness comes before Happiness.

Leviticus 11:45 “I am the LORD who

brought you up out of Egypt to be your

God; therefore be holy, because I am

holy.”

1. “Distance from Me is the most lethal

problem you have.”

2. “The toughest part of My plan, the part

that’s costliest to Me, is to make you

holy.”

Leviticus 17:11 For the life of a

creature is in the blood, and I have

given it to you to make atonement for

yourselves on the altar; it is the blood

that makes atonement for one's life.

3. Relationship with God on His terms

trumps every other concern.

Leviticus 16:30 “...to make atonement

for you, to cleanse you, that you may be

clean from all your sins before the

Lord.”

NUMBERS

Making you holy is hard work for both

of us.

Numbers 14:22-23 Because all these

men who have seen My glory and the

signs which I did in Egypt and in the

wilderness, and have put Me to the test

now these ten times,

23and have not heeded My voice, they

certainly shall not see the land of

which I swore to their fathers, nor

shall any of those who rejected Me see

it.”

LESSONS:

1. Don’t underestimate the power of sin

in the heart.

2. Don’t underestimate the severity of My

love needed to change your hearts.

DEUTERONOMY

You fail Me, but I never fail you.

Deuteronomy 30:19 This day I call

heaven and earth as witnesses against

you that I have set before you life and

death, blessings and curses.

Now choose life, so that you and your

children may live.

1. “I am only true God.”

2. You are locked in self-centeredness.

3. What does loving God means?

Deuteronomy 30:20 that you may love

the LORD your God, obey his

voice, and hold fast to him.

For the LORD is your life, and he will

give you many years in the land he

swore to give to your fathers, Abraham,

Isaac and Jacob.
