• It is important to know how to write a contraction correctly. Remember, the apostrophe in a contraction replaces letters that you take out. For example:

Irregular Plurals are WEIRD!

• Some words break the rules. You do not add “s” “es” or “ies.” You change the words completely to make them plural OR just leave them alone. Here are some examples:

Possessive – It’s MINE!!!

When you are talking about possessive, you are talking about ownership or something belonging to someone.

There are two rules to remember when you are making nouns possessive:

1. To make a singular nouns possessive, add ‘s

2. To make a plural noun THAT ALREADY ENDS IN “S” possessive, add only an apostrophe.
