Goal• Achieve an expected service life threshold of 40 years with an objective of 50 years
Capability Description• Mid-Life (M-L): Phased program to identify Fleet maintenance burdens, engineer cost
effective solutions, and implement solutions to overcome maintenance backlog and provide Fleet identified priority capability improvements.
• Maintenance cost drivers being identified and prioritized which, when corrected, will provide systems and/or equipment capabilities equal to, or improvements, on existing systems.
• Selected capability upgrades included: FO Comp Sys, Aux / Propulsion Sys, Assault Sys, Corrosion Prevention Surveys to support TYCOM improvements, Gender Neutral/SAR DET/ESG

PMS 470 is collaborating with PMS 495, OPNAV, and fleet stakeholders to fund and implement
appropriate alterations that will allow MCM 1 Class ships to meet their planned service lives and
