David Guetta has surpassed two billion streams on Spotify, themusic service has confirmed.

In doing so, Guetta becomes both the first EDM artist and firstFrench artiste, in history, to pass the landmark, and only the third inhistory – following Ed Sheeran and Eminem.

“I want to thank you so much for helping me reachthis incredible milestone,” Guetta said, “2 billionstreams on Spotify! Wow, mind blowing!”

Guetta is also the most-followed artist on Spotifywith 6.8m followers and more than 15 million fanslistening to his music, on the service, each month.

The DJ’s most recent single,“Hey Mama,” featur-ing Nicki Minaj, Bebe Rexha and Afrojack, has nowracked up 95 million global streams.

“It is amazing to see David add his name to thevery select two billion streams club,” Bart Cools, EVPGlobal Marketing and A&R Dance Music, Warner MusicGroup, said.

Heritage of Song, to be held onJuly 19th, in Melbourne,Australia.

The organisers describe thisshow as a once-in-a-lifetimeevent, showcasing famoussingers and musicians.

It has been put together tocoincide with the launch of thebook, A Heritage of Song, fea-turing the musical journeys of125 artistes, with Sri Lankanroots, who have performedmainly in English.

You get quite a few talented Sri Lankan bands operating in Melbourne. As forthe rest of Australia! Hardly any, I guess!

However, Sri Lankans, living in Perth, Western Australia, will soon be able toenjoy the sounds of an outfit, made up of Sri Lankan musicians.

What makes the band Kontinew standout is that it’s made up of four extremelytalented musicians who have performed with some of Sri Lanka’s best bands.

Kontinew is Malik (lead guitar / vocals), Arith Ratnawibhushana (keyboards /vocals), Dinesh Peiris (bass guitar / sax / keyboards / vocals), and Anouk

Ratnawibhushana (drums / vocals).Malik did the needful with Desire, Super Pink 'N' Purple, 20th

Century, Catch 22, Take 5, Rattlesnake, Bathiya ‘n’Santhush, Legacy and many other bands, including the

trio scene, with Noeline and Dalreen. He has toured, and performed in, many countries,

including Australia (with Bathiya ‘n’ Santhush).Dinesh performed, in Switzerland and Germany,

with the band Backstage and also played in Dubai,with Damage. He was also involved with the group

Kings after they re-grouped. Arith was well known, in Sri Lanka, performing

with Super Pink ‘N’ Purple, Jade, and Rohan (ofApple Green fame), later with Kings (before they

disbanded), and played in Germany,Switzerland, Finland and Sweden. Arith was

also involved with an Australian band, in Perth- Groove Generation - for four years.

Anouk is the youngest member of the teamand was the school jazz drummer for John

XXIII College, Perth. He has had the opportuni-ty to play with all the leading Sri Lankan

bands that have made their way, throughPerth, including The Gypsies, Misty, Mirage,

and Super Golden Chimes.Kontinew will make its debut on Saturday,

July 11th, at the exclusive Agni Restaurant.,in Perth, Australia, with the legendary

Desmond de Silva.The band’s playlist will include tunes,

ranging from the 70s, all the way to the mod-ern era.
