*American and French Revolution inspired Latin Americans to fight for Independence

*Mexico Breaks Away under an army of a Miguel Hidalgo in 1810

*Finally in 1821, Mexico wins freedom from Spain

*South and Central America fight for freedom but unlike the American Revolution, they did not unite to fight for freedom

*USA will stop with force if

*US Government did not have the

military to really stop European

action but it helped boost the influence

*French in Canada unsuccessfully rebelled against Britain

*Act of Union of 1841 gave Canadians more power of self-government but still remained under British control

*By 1846, Canada and USA settled many border disputes which improved relations between the two countries
