What is Title I?

Title I is a K-12 program that provides additional academic support and learning opportunities for students at schools with high percentages of socioeconomically disadvantaged children

The program is intended to help ensure that all students meet state academic standards.

Goals of Title I

Increase academic achievement

Provide direct instructional support to students.

Provide professional development for teachers.

Promote parent education and involvement.

Parent Rights

Ask for meetings and trainings. Review the results of annual parent involvement

effectiveness survey. Review the school’s achievement data. Review and modify the Title I Parent Involvement

Policy and Home/School Compact.

Parent Involvement at MCHS

Volunteer Program

Social media posts, Principal’s One- Call, WEB site, Twitter posts and flyers to keep parents informed about school events

Title 1 Annual Meeting to discuss current student assessment data and student progress

Scheduled Parent/ Teacher conferences as well as additional conferences when needed

Parent Involvement at MCHS

School Site Based Council Meetings (SBDM) are open to all stakeholders

School postings (Bulletin Boards)

Parent- Teacher Organization (PTO) is open to all stakeholders

Parents are invited to serve on school committees. Please let your teacher know that you would like to be involved!

School Achievement Data

School analyzes all assessment results and uses the analysis for decision- making

Schools use the data to align curriculum to master the Kentucky Common Core State Standards

Classroom teachers will review student achievement data with you.

Title I Funds [Federal Funds]

Allocated on the basis of socio-economic need as determined from the HIF (Household Income Forms). Schools receive Title I funds if 40% or more of students are eligible for free/reduced lunch.

Title IParental Involvement Policy Every Title I school, in collaboration with parents, must prepare a site level parent involvement policy.

The Parental Involvement Policy describes how the school will involve the parents in an organized, ongoing, and timely way the planning, review, and improvement of the Title I program at their school.

A copy of the SBDM adopted Parental Involvement Policy is available on line or in the High School office.

Home/School Compact

The Home/School Compact describes the responsibilities of the school, the parent, and the student for improved student achievement.

The SBDM approved Home/ School Compact is available online.
