Warm upSolve the system of equations using substitution. CHECK YOUR ANSWER using graphing.

y = x - 10

5x - y = -6

x + 6y = 14

-x + 3y = 4

Using elimination to solve systems of equations.

3x - 2y = 4

4x + 2y = 10Look for terms that are opposites, then add the equations together.

7x = 14x = 2 Solve the equation for the variable.

Now use the value for x to find y.

3(2) - 2y = 4

6 - 2y = 4

-2y = -2

y = 1Don't forget to check your solution!

8x + y = 1

8x - 3y = 3

Sometimes you don't have opposite terms.

So, make them opposite -
