Student Discipline October 2015

Module Overview

Class Behavior – used for recording classroom behavior. Very useful to document interventions used prior to a referral.

Referrals – used to document a student or a group of students’ behavior for administrative intervention

Student Behavior – the area where student behavior records are maintained. Referrals can be the source of a behavior record.

Reports - • Custom notification letters for parents

• Student behavior history

• Graphs for analysis

Records vs. Referrals

In MISTAR-Q, a discipline referral is not part of the student behavior record until it is “processed”.

Referrals have 3 states –

New : not yet evaluated by a discipline officer.

Dismissed: evaluated, but left in a pending state.

Processed: evaluated and a record is created.

Referrals can be entered by any staff member with access to the Student Behavior > Referrals tab.

Student Behavior – Class Behavior

This module is only available in Q

Teacher use only. Each school can set their own behavior codes. Administrators can view reports based on what the teacher has entered. These reports can be used to consider interventions used prior to a referral. NOT viewable by parents or students.

Referrals Referrals can be processed (written to student history) or dismissed. Dismissed referrals remain on the system, in a temporary area.
