A Message from the Principal
Dear Families, A Mothers’ Day Prayer
I thank you, Creator of us all, for my mother. I thank you that she gave me life and nurtured
me all those years. She gave me my faith, helping me to know you and to know Jesus and
his ways. She taught me to love and how to sacrifice for others. She taught me that it was okay to cry
and that I should always tell the truth. Bless her with the graces she needs and which
you want to give her today. Help her to feel precious in your eyes today and to know that I love her. Give her strength
and courage, compassion and peace. Bless her this day with your love. Amen
This Sunday we celebrate Mother’s Day. This is an important day to thank all our mums, grandmothers, aunts and significant female carers. To acknowledge this special occasion we are holding a Mother’s Day liturgy and gift stall on Thursday. Our liturgy will be presented by Mrs. Mimi Woolley’s Year 1/2 students at 8:30am. A link will be provided to you so that you can watch from home or work. We shall take photos also and share on Class Dojo and Facebook so that you are able remain connected.
Following the liturgy, our Parents and Friends committee will be visiting classrooms to allow our children the opportunity to purchase gifts for our mums. Gifts range from a limited number of $2.00 items, with the majority ranging from $3.00 to $6.00. Please ensure that students have correct money so that we are able to limit the handling of money. Thanks to Georgina Maika, President of our Parents and Friends and to Caoimhe Kalinowsky our Acting Deputy Principal who will be facilitating visits to our classes Thursday.
Upon arrival at school on Tuesday it was lovely to hear from our children their weekend adventures to celebrate the first official dry season weekend. We are truly blessed to live and work in this tropical paradise. As I walked along the esplanade in the city on the weekend it was so lovely to see so many people out and about enjoying time with family and friends. The opening of some national parks and public spaces was a welcome return for us all.
Father Dave Callaghan celebrated outdoor mass on the weekend in our assembly area. We had a wonderful turn out both Saturday and Sunday.
Thanks to Father Dave, Father Anthony, Deacon Tony and our parishioners for making this possible. Public masses will take place again this weekend in our assembly area. Please join us for outdoor mass this weekend - Saturday at 6:00pm or Sunday at 9:30am.
While some restrictions have been lifted, it is important that we continue to be vigilant and not become complacent. Continue to communicate regularly with us at school. It is important we maintain two-way communication between teachers and families. Continued connection between school and families is very important during this time.
Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School Prospectus reminds and informs us all of shared expectations and requirements of our school. This document is provided to all families prior to enrolment and is ratified by members of our School Board. From our prospectus I remind all families the requirements and agreed practices around school uniform. Our students are expected to wear full school uniform each day. Where this is not possible, a signed note from parents/carers is to be provided. Students out of uniform will be issued with a note to inform that their child is in breach of this policy. This note is to be returned to school and signed where this occurs. Holy Spirit Catholic Primary School uniform includes:

OSHC NEWS... As you are aware, we have been required to cap our numbers to 65
children per day.
It is important that our families who work in essential services are able to access ASC and go to work each day. We have many children
on a waiting list at present and it is important that we provide them a spot when available. We ask please that where you have made a
booking and it is no longer required please contact our front office through the normal channels of email or the app to cancel. This then opens a space to a family who requires this service and assists us with
staffing.
If we are at capacity and your child turns up to ASC without a booking they will be taken to the front office for a family member to collect
immediately.
Additional bookings will not be accepted where families have overdue fees. If assistance is required, please speak with our staff in finance so
that a payment plan can be put into place.
While we have capped numbers at OSHC, bookings made through the app and email from Friday 2:30pm to Monday 7:30am requesting Before School Care or After School care for a Monday (or Tuesday
after a Monday public holiday) will not be honoured as availability for places cannot be confirmed.
SCHOLASTIC BOOK CLUB In these unprecedented times we’re all being asked to change the
way we work and live. The tradition of putting books into the hands of kids isn’t going to change, but for Term 2,
Scholastic are doing things a little differently.
This term the Book Club catalogue and ordering is only available online. Items will be delivered to the school and
distributed to your children.
Please follow the link below to access the book club catalogue and create your order.
