This Week: Theotokos,
Preparing the Way: JOY!
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
Shout for Joy! Sing Joyfully! Be
Glad and Exult with All Your Heart!
We find these words in our first reading from the
prophet Zephaniah who tells the people of Israel of the
Lord who is to come. In Him, they will find a “mighty
savior” who “will rejoice over you with gladness,
and renew you in his love, he will sing joyfully
because of you…” In like manner , we should live
lives of joy in the Lord. Zephaniah tells us that the
Lord sings joyfully because of us - shouldn’t we sing
all the more joyfully because of Him?
Rejoice in the Lord Always
St. Paul tells us in our second reading, “Have no
anxiety at all, but in everything, by prayer and
petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests
WE ARE DISCIPLES: LEARNING, LOVING & LIVING CHRIST’S MISSION
known to God.” What better advice could be
offered to us in this season of preparation for the Lord
at Christmas and even more so in our preparation for
His Second Coming? We need not have any anxiety
about anything, rather we should joyfully recognize
that God is in control and there is only so much we
can do.
St. Paul continues by telling us that if we make our
requests known to God then “the peace of God that
surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts
and minds in Christ Jesus.” Imagine what our
world would look like if we each would offer our
anxieties and concerns to God in prayer and petition
and then have the peace of knowing that God will
take care to order everything according to His will
and that our hearts and minds can be at peace. It is
said that Saint John XXIII, the Pope who called the
Second Vatican Council, put this into practice every
night as he prayed: (continued on p.2)

WAYS TO CONNECT
it easier for people to encounter God or if your life is
an obstacle for those seeking to meet God. What
about your life brings people to God? The power
of an invitation can lead to a personal encounter with
Jesus and a lifetime of Hope, Peace, Joy & Love.
My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, Prepare the
Way with the Mother of God as we Learn, Love, &
Live Christ’s Mission!
Our Lady of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Pray for us!
“I’ve done my best I could in your service this day,
Oh Lord. I’m going to bed. It’s your church. Take
care of it!” Do we have that peace about the work
we do for our families, friends, employers, parish and
community? Do we have the confidence to turn over
the reigns to our Lord after having given our best each
day?
What Should I Do?
John the Baptist was asked this question by those in our
Gospel reading today. It is a question we should all
ask. This week, think about the various ways that you
can bring God into the world. Ask God how He wants
you to bring Him into this world this week.
John the Baptist’s response to this question was quite
simple. John told the crowds to give their extra cloaks
to those who don’t have one and he told the tax
collector to be just in his work. This week, consider
whether your life brings God into the world and makes

DECEMBER MEDITATIONS
WITH THESE SIMPLE, BEAUTIFUL MEDIATIONS, YOU CAN CREATE A
SPIRITUAL CRECHE AND PREPARE YOUR HEART FOR THE COMING OF THE CHRIST CHILD...
Dec. 16 ~ THE OX. Lead the ox to the cr ib. Obey cheerfully without making excuses and asking "why." I will
obey for love of Thee, Jesus.
Dec. 17 ~ THE DONKEY. Bring the donkey to the cr ib. Offer to the Divine Infant your bodily strength; us it in
the service of others. Jesus, accept my service of love; I offer it for those who do not love Thee.
Dec. 18 ~ GIFTS. Gather some presents for the Divine Infant and His Blessed Mother . Give alms for the poor and
say an extra decade of the Rosary. Come, Jesus, to accept my gifts and to take possession of my heart.
Dec. 19 ~ LAMBS. Strive to bring some little lambs, meek and patient. So do not murmur or complain. Jesus,
meek and humble of heart, make my heart like Thine.
Dec. 20 ~ SHEPHERDS. Invite the shepherds to pay homage to our newborn King. Imitate their watchfulness.
Stree in your speech and thoughts the idea that Christmas is important because Jesus will be born again in you. Jesus,
teach me to love Thee above all things.
Dec. 21~ THE KEY. Provide the stable with a key to keep out thieves. Exclude from your hear t every sinful
thought, every rash judgment. Dear Jesus, close my heart to all that hurts Thee.
Dec. 22 ~ ANGELS. Invite the angels to adore God with you. Cheerfully obey the inspirations of your guardian
angel and of your conscience. Holy Guardian Angel, never let me forget that you are with me always.
Dec. 23 ~ ST. JOSEPH. Accompany St. Joseph from door to door . Learn from him silently and patiently to bear
refusals and disappointments. Open wide your heart and beg him to enter with the Blessed Virgin Mary. Saint Joseph,
help me to prepare for a worthy Christmas Communion.
Dec. 24 ~ THE BLESSED VIRGIN. Go meet your Blessed Mother . Lead her to the manger of your hear t and beg
her to lay the Divine Infant in it. Shorten your chats and telephone conversations and spend more time today thinking of
Jesus and Mary and Joseph. Come, dear Jesus. Come, my heart longs for Thee.
Dec. 25 ~ THE CHRIST CHILD. Welcome the Chr ist Child into the manger of your heart. Thank Jesus
frequently for coming to dwell in you in Holy Communion and for sacrificing Himself for your salvation. Welcome
Jesus, welcome to my heart!
Father of goodness and love, hear our prayers for the sick members of our community and for all who are in need, may they find consolation in your healing presence. May these
special people find lasting health and deliverance, and so join us in thanking you for all your gifts. We ask this through the
Lord Jesus who healed those who believed. Amen.
Please pray an Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory Be for the
following parishioners and their families, and always keep all
families in your prayers.
