Fifth through eighth grade students grouped for reading support classes each day between 1:00 – 1:45 beginning November 16.

Fifth through eighth grade students receive reading support at their reading achievement level, as identified by the STAR Reading assessment.

As students progress in reading they move to their next reading achievement level group.

Book Exchange

Bring in your children’s old, slightly damaged books and exchange them for another students books.

Books may be kept for whatever time period desired by the student or parent.

Lost books don’t incur any fees.

When does the exchange begin? As soon as we receive your children’s previously read, slightly damaged books.

ROBUST READERS

Starting Monday, November 2, we request all students read for thirty minutes a night, including weekends.

Students can read a book, magazine, pamphlet, or the Sight Word Lists or Story, if appropriate for the student’s reading level.

Students who read 30 minutes a night and have a parent initial verifying that each day the student has read the appropriate time length will receive 5 points of extra credit on weekly assessments.

Have your child turn in his or her reading log on each Monday recording the nightly 30 minutes of reading from the previous Friday to that week’s Thursday to receive the extra credit points.

Enforce students reading 30-minutes a night

If your child is reading under the 4th grade level, have them practice both the Sight Word lists and story

Talk with your child/children daily about the importance of improving in reading

Attend a data conference

Sign your child up and provide transportation for Saturday Academy (tutoring)

Donate previously read, slightly damaged books for the book exchange program
