In this play-based drama class, students willexperimentwith improvisation, ensemble-building, and acting exercises to discover the joy of theatre. They will then create their own 2D and 3D artworks inspired by these ideas. Grades3-5–GraphicNovelsIn thisadvancedcartooningclass,studentswill learntocreatecharacters,worlds,andstoriesusingtheartofillustration.Withabalanceofliteracy,storytelling,andvisualart,theGraphicNovelistsfromthisclasswilljumpheadfirstintotheworldofcartooning.Theywillhavetheopportunitytodevelopnewcharacters,aswellasplacetheirfavoritecomicsinnewsettings.Attheendoftheclass,studentswillwalkawaywiththeirowngraphicnovel!

Grades4-5Film&TelevisionwithShowrunnerProductions*$40MaterialsFeeFilmmakingisnotjustformovietheatresanymore!Studentswilllearntoproducecontentforfilm,video,andthewebusingprofessionalvideo,lightingandsoundequipment.Usingvideoclips,theclassbeginswithanoverviewofthehistoryofoffilmmakingfromsilentmoviestoYouTube.Theywillwrite,storyboard,produce,andstarintheirchoiceofshortfilms,commercialsorsitcoms.Alinktothefinalprojectswillbeprovidedfordownload.

THURSDAY GradeK–DanceMeaStoryDanceisoneofthemostgracefulandexcitingwaystotellastory.Thestudentsinthisclasswillusestoriestoinspirechoreography.Blendingtheexcitingelementsofplot,musicdynamics,andmovement,students inthisclasswillintegratetheirlearningintoaspectacularvisualstory.Watchthemskip,bop,andshimmytheirwayfrom“OnceUponaTime”to“HappilyEverAfter”!GradesK-1–LegoMasters*$15MaterialsFeeLearn how to become Lego-smart! This class will introduce teamwork, observation, creative thinking, andproblem-solving skills all through the fun of Legos. Grades3-5–JazzDanceStudentsinthisclasswilllearnthebasicprinciplesofjazzdance.Studentswillgroovetosyncopatedrhythmsbystepping, leaping, kicking, andperfectingbody isolationswitha creative flair.Alongwith creativemovement,studentswill learn about theevolutionof jazzdance inAmerica at the turnof the20th century, focusingonchoreographersandmusicalsthatbroughtthisdanceformtothemainstream.Thesemesterwillendwithajazzyperformanceofanoriginaldancepiece.

Grades4-5–KodoPlusGameDesignwithCodeAdvantage*$60MaterialsFeeGettheadvantage!Theobjectiveinourcoding,robotics,andengineeringclassesistointroducefundamentalcoding concepts to young students using a fun and engaging approach. We accomplish this with a mix ofprogrammingactivities,unpluggedactivities,andclasscodingprojects.Kidshaveablastcreatingtheirown3Dvideo games and adventures such as Bumper Balloons and Super-Kodu while learning fundamental codingconceptssuchasloops,variables,andconstructors.

FRIDAY GradeK–MiniMozartwithMUSICTOYOURHOME*$15MaterialsFeeInthisclass,wewillexploreclassicalmusic!Wewilllistentocompositionsfromavarietyofcomposersandlearnabout the history behind the piece. Through songs, games, and exercises,we’ll explore the fundamentals ofmusic.We’lllearnaboutdynamics,tempo,pitch,melody,beatandrhythm.Inthecourseofourtimetogetherwewillwriteourownsongsandleavewithacoreunderstandingofmusicalvocabulary.GradesK-1–CanvasCreationsVanGogh,Picasso,andMonetareonlysomeof thenamesstudentswill learn in thisexcitinghands-onclass.Throughtheintroductionofseveralpaintingtechniques,studentswilllearnaboutimagecomposition,drawing,shadows,and light.Withavarietyofmethods,studentswill learnaboutarthistoryandalsocreatetheirownpieces.Studentswillrefinetheirfinemotorskillsandenjoyworkingwithwatercolor,acrylic,andpastelsinthisexcitingartstudioclass.Grades1-3–DanceExpressionsDancers in this classwill experience the joy of expression throughdifferent formsof dance.
