Sooryavanshi said theyaren't sure whether the re-lease date of RanveerSingh's 83, slated forChristmas, will also beshifted.

Akshay Kumar's much-awaited action feature-Sooryavanshi will not be re-leasing on Diwali, RelianceEntertainment Group CEOSibashish Sarkar said on 2October.

The studio had an-nounced in June that thefilm will hit the theatres onDiwali, while their anotherrelease Ranveer Singh's 83will arrive on Christmas.

Though the theatres arestill shut across the country,they are expected to reopenfrom 15 October after theUnion Home Ministry per-mitted cinemas and multi-plexes to resume operationswith up to 50 percent oftheir seating capacity.

The Ministry of Informa-tion and Broadcasting willbe issuing a standard oper-ating procedure (SOP) forcinemas soon.

Sarkar is happy with thegovernment's decision buthe is still unsure whether allthe theatres will be opera-tional by 15 October.

Given the uncertainty,Sarkar said it is not practi-cally possible to release

Sooryavanshi on Diwali."One thing is clear, we are

not releasing any film onDiwali. No other decisionhas been taken. It is notpossible to release a film onDiwali now. As of now, allcinema houses are notopening from 15 October.Even if it opens on 1 No-vember, how can you re-lease a film in 10 or 15 daysnotice period?" he told thePress Trust of India.

He said the makers areyet to take a call on the newrelease date of the RohitShetty-directed film.

"We are not sure whetherwe will change both Soorya-vanshi or 83 or we will justshift one film. It is definitely

clear December to March isthe time (to release films),this is the realistic time-line," he added.

Sooryavanshi, directed byRohit Shetty, was originallyscheduled for 24 March andKabir Khan-helmed 83 wasset to hit the cinema houseson 10 April.

But both the movies wereindefinitely postponed dueto the coronavirus pan-demic, which led to theatresshutdown across the coun-try and in other parts of theworld.

Sooryavanshi is the thirdfilm in Shetty's cop universeafter Ajay Devgn's Singhamand Ranveer-starrerSimmba.

At that time,Boney had issued a state-ment saying, "Myself, mychildren, and the other staffat home are all fine, andnone of us is showing anysymptoms. In fact, wehaven't left our home sincethe lockdown started."
