Cityscape[edit]Neighbourhoods[edit]Palava is organized in consistent blocks laid in a gridiron pattern – a result of the city’s layout that follows New York’s gridiron structure. This feature facilitates orderly growth and makes walking and navigating easier as per international standards. In addition, every residence at Palava follows the city’s ‘walk to everything’ principle. Neighbourhoods are planned such that all needs are met within a 5 to 15 minutes’ radius from home and a variety of amenities:5 minutes – convenience retail, parking, transport hubs10 minutes – schools, sector clubhouses, temple15 minutes – commercial business district and all larger public amenities across the cityEach neighborhood is self-sufficient in physical infrastructure with decentralized facilities for power, water, sewage treatment, etc. to allow scalability and lower operating costs for the resident. Such complete streets provide mobility at all scales. Pedestrian focused design is a hallmark feature, with an extensive network of 3m+ footpaths connecting all blocks. [14][15]

Public Spaces[edit]Over 60% of the total area of Palava is dedicated to open spaces. 25% of Palava will be parks, playing fields and recreation grounds – 10 times more than currently available in Mumbai. These will include a 100-acre Central Park like the one in New York with bicycle and walking tracks, open spaces for picnics, etc. and a riverfront that stretches 3.5 km long with promenades, cafes, theatres. A 50-acre lakefront and a 2 km long periphery will add to the variety of open spaces.Arts & Culture[edit]Placemaking[edit]The Palava Sports Summer Camp from April to June 2014 was aimed to cultivate a culture of sports, fitness and healthy living. More than 250 children participated in the camp which included football, swimming, tennis and aerobics. A unique feature of the camp was the opportunity to receive international football training from Arsenal Soccer Schools, a world-renowned football training academy. [16] Activities like urban farming, creative photography, aeromodelling and other workshops are conducted towards forming community clubs. Palava will further incorporate iconic art projects throughout the city. A host of innovative art installations are already on ground, with the intent of forming a public art collection and an ‘open museum’ in the city. Some of these include recycled art like ‘Cranes’, a wall of ‘Eco twirls’ to educate the community on wind power, and a ‘Globe’ installation which lights up as one peddles a stationary bicycle.

Water[edit] Palava ensures abundant water supply, with 50% of all water needs taken care internally. It has partnered with

General Electric to treat all waste water, recycling water for landscaping, flushing and chilled-water needs. Rain water harvesting and recharging of water table in all natural aquifers will also support the vast landscap
