TYPES OF DECORATIVE DESIGN

Naturalistic Design:Imitating or producing the effect or appearance of nature in a

realistic manner i.e. using leaves, trees, stones, etc in a decorative design. Following pictures are some examples of

naturalistic design.

Abstract Design:Abstract design uses a visual language of form, color and line to create a composition which may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in the world. It emphasizes on lines, colors, generalized or geometrical forms, etc with reference to their relationship to one another.

Geometric Design:Geometric design uses simple geometric forms such as circles, straight lines, triangles, squares or similar regular shapes or forms in design and decoration.

Biomorphic Design:Biomorphic design relates to a form, pattern, or mechanical system that resembles a living organism in shape, appearance, curving, irregular form, function, or motion. Or more suggestively a painted, drawn, or sculptured free of form or design suggestive in shape of a living organism, esp. an ameba or protozoan.
