Ivan studied art and architecture at Yale and Harvard and the
Chicago Institute of Design before moving to New York.

Ivan started the firm Chermayeff & Geismar, a firm that specialized in graphic design of corporate and non-profit logos and posters.
Recognition
He became president of the American Institute of Graphic Arts. He also became a teacher at several colleges and universities.
Achievments
Ivan Chermayeff has won nearly every award available in his profession, including awards
from the Society of Illustrators and the American Institute of Graphic Arts.
He was revolutionary in his thought that design should be used to solve real problems, not to be just stylish or eye catching.

He is commonly referred to as one of the “giants of graphic design,”
