Corruption

• The study of J. Davis also showed that 30% of customers bribed to expedite repair works and 12% paid "speed money" for new water and sanitation connections in the past six months.

• According to a study of 21 water utilities in Africa, on average 64% - nearly two-thirds - of their operating costs were due to corruption.
