YSQM:Quality Mark for Services for Young

People

What’s in it for me?

The Rationale

To improve quality in young people’s services & ensure better outcomes for young people.

To ensure the building blocks are in place for fit for purpose services - policies & procedures, monitoring & review, information & planning.

Continuous improvement – total quality.

Uses of the NYA’s Quality Mark

As a management tool to improve quality

It can be used over a one, two or three years as a plan to improve quality.

“our organisation was really outdated…..I used YSQM and HBR to build it up again.”

Uses of The NYA’s Quality Mark

Support funding and commissioning

Commissioners and Funders may use the framework to check out the quality of potential services and organisations.

“this is a useful tool for commissioning services for young people.”

Uses of the NYA’s Quality Mark

Enabling better outcomes for young people

A quality organisation, achieving an established position in both young peoples involvement and achievements is more likely to be in a position to offer high quality outcomes for young people.

Uses of the NYA’s Quality Mark

Celebrate good practice

The celebration of good practice was felt important during the development and piloting phases of the Quality Mark. Young people, staff, peers and partners need to celebrate in the successes of the organisation.

Uses of the NYA’s Quality Mark

National recognition

The YSQM National Award enables young peoples organisations to obtain an Award which is nationally recognised. Currently there are four National Award holders with a number of organisations working towards this aim.

“the challenge is to have internal ownership and national credibility.”
