How to Help your Student Prepare:
Use the “teach back” method while you are creating the project and poster. For example:
Ask the student how they would explain the concepts related to their projects in their own words
Have your student practice answering questions
Don’t worry about the speech – students will write these in class and practice as a group beforehand
Project Presentation
If your project is an object (such as a piece of artwork) or will be shown on the computer, we recommend that you create a poster board as well to: Draw people to your booth Help explain the process to create the final
product of the student’s project Have visuals for visitors to ask questions
about (which is very helpful for shy students)
Examples of Computer Based Projects
This pair created a poster board and projected the computer game they created on the wall, to share the
project with the audience

Law Enforcement Presentation Example
Booth Presentation
Bring decorations: whether it is glitter, balloons, steamers, related articles to the students projects, and business cards and pamphlets.
Handouts are also a great way to share the knowledge the student gained during their apprenticeship with the event attendees.
Remind your student that he or she should stay at the booth throughout the presentation time in order to explain the project to guests

Quick Tips
1. If your poster board is done by the last session, you can hold on to it and bring it to Discovery Night. If not, send it home with your student to complete, but they may need reminders if there are any additional items you’ll need for the booth.
2. There’s usually no internet, or a weak internet connection at the schools. Please download all the documents needed prior to the event.
3. Bring Friends, Family or Coworkers! 4. Contact Shireen with any questions!
