10 Steps to find the Right Candidate

Are you ready to Commit?

Do you have the facilities in place?

What is your Budget and are you going to train your

new staff member?

1. How Prepared are You?

2. Do You Know Who You Are Looking For?

• Do I understand the role?

• Write down a detailed job description.

• Who would the ideal candidate be?

• What are their traits and characteristics?

3. Where Can I Find Such A Person?

1. Through Connections?2. Social Networking? - LinkedIn3. Off Line Networking?4. On and Offline Advertising?5. Trade Fairs?6. Recruitment Agencies?

4. Screening & Reference Checking

• Check out candidates prior to interview.• Screen them on Social Media sites.• Who do I know that knows them? – LinkedIn.• Have they worked in a similar sized organisation?

5. The Interview

• Prepare the right questions.

• Ask great competency questions.

• Watch eye contact and body language.

• Make notes.

6. Understand Candidate’s Motivation

• Why is the candidate interested in the job?

• How can you keep him motivated over time?

7. Psychometric Profiling?

8. Reference Checks

• Get detailed references.• Minimum of 3 verbal

references.• Conduct all references

yourself.• Create a reference

checklist.

9. The Job Offer

• Decision Time – Full Time, Contract, Part Time, Internship.

• Trial period.• Draw up a contract.

Ensure it is complies with Employment law.

• You may need your “Sales” hat on to negotiate.

10. Continuous Assessment

• Don’t drop the ball now.

• Ensure great communication with your new employee.

• Fuel their motivators.• And assess their

progress regularly.
