Lighting design for theatre

There are lots of different lighting designs that can be used in theatre based on the play and theme or emotion of a scene.

the general lights I would use are: 1K fresnels- for a bright back light. Minuette fresnels LED par cans- for the coloured lights Profile- for spotlight Specials

for example In peter pan they used dark blues and greens to set the feel of the scene.

With my lighting design if there was one focus on stage I could create that with specials like used on this photo rather than just lighting one part of the stage with general lighting, which is just spoon feeding the audience rather than giving them something interesting to watch and make them think more.

In this example the lighting makes you feel as if there is a romantic feel to it. The whole stage and all of the performers are highlighted pink apart from the centre main characters that have a spotlight on them. Although this Is simple it still works effectively and allow the audience understand the concept.

If I was to do one which was in a forest I would use gobos in the lights to create the tree effect.
