• Hearing and Sight Solutions provides a wide range of seminars and short courses for staff and volunteers who work with blind, partially sighted, hard of hearing and deafblind people.

Training from Hearing and Sight Solutions

• You may wish to commission training from us or it may suit your training needs better to book staff on to one of our many seminars arranged throughout England and Wales.

Awareness seminars

• Our half day awareness seminars provide staff and volunteers with information about eye and ear conditions and the effect these have on the daily lives of individuals.

• Delegates are introduced to a range of support measures through environmental improvement, better communication and appropriate formatting of information.

• We have a range of one day courses related to sight problems and hearing loss with other disabilities.

Short courses

• There are one and two day courses which prepare candidates for external awards in supporting people with combined sight problems and hearing loss.

• These are of particular value to staff who carry out assessments of deafblind people but will also be helpful to care managers and social workers who work with older people.

• Hearing and Sight Solutions also provides a five day course for people wishing to qualify as Guide-Communicators – supporting deafblind people as they access the community for shopping, banking, or for leisure purposes.

• This course leads to the Signature level 2 award in Communicating and Guiding with Deafblind People.

• Hearing and Sight Solutions has a 100% pass rate for this qualification.

Short courses

• Our seven day course for people working with congenitally deafblind people leads to the Signature level 3 award in Insights into Communication with Congenitally Deafblind People.

• As well as these courses Hearing and Sight Solutions is able to design or tailor courses to your particular training needs.
